OK everyone, I'm going to San Diego later this month and want to know what should I not miss? I'll only be there for 4 days so I know not much. Also, will not have the Disco with me, so don't tell me about all the great trails to go to. On a side note though, someone told me about some sort of wildlife refuge/safari type thing out there... anyone heard about it... is it part of the zoo? I'll be staying at the US Grant in the heart of downtown so anything close would be great. Right now the things I'm looking into are Tijuana, Sea World, SD Zoo, beaches, bay, etc. Thanks.

If you like sushi, hit up Mr. Sushi on Garnett St. Excellent place and reasonable prices, small hole in the wall and it get's crowded early! Or try Peohe's in Coronado, watch the sunset as you have dinner with your significant other.

Go to the Navy base and see if you can catch sight of one of those "new" stealth boats.

No1 tourist must see is the San Diego Zoo and if you’re into art and museums Balboa Park has a good selection.
Also Sea World is good family fun if you’re into trained fish shows.
The beaches watch out each one has its own kinks, the freaks at Mission Beach, great people watching stuff there. For fine Dining I like Donovan’s, $$$ but worth it
Nighttime fun the Gas Lamp District has a lot to offer.
Too bad no Disco this times plenty of good off-road areas to explore. Follow all the shiny chrome covered sport-utes around town they will show you the way
Seriously check out www.signonsandiego.com it’s a good source for local info

Not sure since 9/11 if the Navy Ships are giving tours call the bases for infomation. Also Downtown at Broadway Pier there usally is ships for tour, and the harbor tour is also fun.

Have fun Dee

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the restaurant recommendations (you never know what you'll get in a different town.) Balboa Park and the Gaslamp District sound like a good time, so I'll have to check them out also. Thanks again.

Don't know if you are going to be there on the 10th but for what it's worth there is going to be an eclipse of the sun. Best viewing time is 6:20 PM and San Diego will be the best location in the US for viewing.
