I was driving through Jersey yesterday and the service engine light begin flashing. Not long after the vehicle begin bucking and shuddering rather alarmingly. I quickly pulled into a parking lot and reached for my cell...

Murphies law! I left it at home. Luckily my buddy had a calling card and I quickly contacted the nearest dealer, which was 10 minuits away. I figured it'd be no problem because my vehicle is still under warrenty.

Well, the man told me since he was leaving in an hour and a half he couldn't help me, nor could he garuntee that theyed even get to it tomorrow. I live in collegeville PA, which was nowhere near this so I was SOL. He said they wouldn't provide me with a car without my paying, which meant I was pretty much out of luck with them because I needed to be home that night.

Well, I remembered about that Road Recovery Service (which I swore I'd never need) and called them. They told me that they would bring me and my car back to Land Rover Westchester free of charge.

I called up Westchester, and they told me that not only would they look at it the next day, but that they would have a car there waiting for me to drive home in. These guys are great. They had it finished by 430 the next afternoon. Everything was covered under warrenty.

Turned out to be a failed spark plug wire on number 7 cylender! Damn, glad I stopped driving.

Just thought I'd put out that while some of the dealers suck, there are others that really do try to accomodate you however they can. (and the free soda kicks ass too)

WAY TO GO WEST CHESTER!

Cheers,

Kennith

which one would not help? some dealers don't like making you a priority unless you bought it there.

Yeah, I thought it'd be better to use the free service than to drive two houres sans one cylinder. I didn't have the spare and I had to be back in PA before the night.

I thought I posted a reply earlier, quite a detailed one too... Must have messed up somewhere on the posting.

Heather has been driving for about a month or so missing one cylinder , no harm in that....

Well, I don't know mechanics as well as some of you guys. :) I figured the load lifted off that cylinder would be transferred over to the others, over stressing them.

Engineering and design is one of my hobbies, and I have ventured into the world of business with it before. The rack is a personal favorite project of mine though. It's something I will use. Most of my other projects were for other people.

It's a pain though that I have been mobilized and will have to put it on hold for a while. I have high hopes for it's design and practicality.

That's the problem with the Land Rovers it was over engineered where it does not count and under engineered where it can leave you really shit out of luck. All answer up who have been left stranded by the POS brake light switch.. oh and low hanging cats for an off-road vehicle the list goes on. Too bad its a truck desigined by committe
