I am about to order RoverTym's rock sliders and have a couple questions. What have been your experiences with them? Good to deal with, etc? Also, any ideas on shipping costs from VA to GA for the sliders?

I ended up trading my Disco before I managed to get permission from my wife to buy anything from John, but....

I've talked w/ John at several of the last couple of Rallies and he's a great fellow to chat with, and everyone I've talked to that has dealt with him says you can't find better customer service.

John's stuff is stout, too. I can jump on his bumpers: no flex. The sliders are strong. Springs, he really helps you figure out what you need, and doesn't try to push something that isn't what you want.

Good choice, IMHO.

I have the RTE Extreme sliders on my D2 and have been very pleased with them. I've used them for jacking (hi-lift) as well as dropping down on a stump every now and then. They're easy to install, remove and clean and the D2 version fits well. At first, I was skeptical of the step-like nature, but now I wouldn't have it any other way. I picked mine up from the shop.

I have a pair of RoverTym rock sliders on my DII and I really like them. They are very stout and the only concern that I've ever had about them was how to manuever the heavy SOBs around when I did the install by myself. Pay for the beer and have a friend help you with the install. Your shoulders and arms will thank you.

As for John, he was a pleasure to work with. He went out of his way to get my sliders shipped quick enough that I could get them installed before a big trip I had planned.

I've seen numerous examples of great customer service from John. Far beyond what I expect to see these days. He has even talked people out of buying his equipment when it would have been over-kill for their needs. He pointed out a less expensive, non-RoverTym solution that seemed better suited to their plans and let them decide. Go with Rovertym, you won't be disappointed.

I just want to echo the other's sentiments. I have RTE springs and sliders on my DSII and John has been nothing but a pleasure to deal with. His products are awesome and his customer service is second to none!

I think they are the sweetest looking sliders around and built very tough. A friend of mine told me that when he bought his Rovertym slider that someone at Rovertym sugested that he leave them out in the rain for a few weeks until tiny rust spots apear and then he should repaint them.

Don't get me wrong, if I had the money I would stil get a set. I just think that it's a little crappy that you have to pay a premium for something that has a crappy finish. I know he had a set from an early batch. Perhaps they have improved things since then.

Without a doubt, the RoverTym products are an excellent deal. Reasonable pricing, quality workmanship and engineering, combined with top-notch, responsive customer service. What more can you ask for?

I have the 2" RTE Springs, standard bumper with brush bar and the sliders and I have been extremely pleased with all the products.

Neal- without knowing the specifics of what you are talking about, I think I remember hearing at one point that there was some problems with RTE's powdercoating company not initially being used to coating large pieces. My understanding is that situation is now rectified and no longer a concern.

My understanding of the sliders is that RTE uses a different coating because it is the nature of the sliders to rub off the coating and this spray on coating from Napa is readily available and easy to reapply and cover any exposed area from your adventures.
