Did somebody mention the Olsen Twins on a disco board? For anybody that is interested, and I'm sure there are a few of you here that would be very interested......

For those wanting to totally avoid all those age related issues, and other irritating animate actions you could try, realdoll.com For those so inclined you could pick up a ‘used’ one on ebay….. Anyone out there wishing they hadn’t spent so much on upgrades?

Trevor,

P.S. Joking aside, a great site for current news, as well as the off beat, but true news try FARK.com

Dear god, was that link sent up by "Boxers" Trevor? I don't want to draw too many conclusions until I know I've tagged the right pervert. That you Big Daddy Boxers?

Karen, eyes rolling back in head.....

wow. how did i miss this thread. that is pretty cool. funny you mention party......for a second i thought you were stalking me or having my phone tapped. i am actually having a little par-tay this weekend at the new digs here in Happy Valley. haha. hoping to get some gals from across the street (PSU womans lacrosse team) to come over and party with the old folks. i mean i just want to be their friend.
but maybe if i got enough cool posters and some large sand boxes this party could have a whole new theme. hmmmmm.
i am still in the process of getting the place all set up, so i will see what i can do with the place this weekend. don't want to freak out the neighbors though. but i guess that could only happen if Rob stopped by.

Good grief!!! Garrett, I guess I'm actually too old for your taste now...so I have nothing to worry about! :)
I agree with "18 and over for me" that we are all probably tagged for checking that site!

What makes you think I don't have your phone tapped?

Karen :) P.S. I realized later it was EVAN who has the penchant for hugging in boxers, not Trevor (that I'm aware at least!). So many pervs, so hard to keep them all straight.... ; )

yeah. that is Evan. the jolly man from the hinterlands of PA. haha. well for one i don't have a land line phone......just my cell for now. so having it tapped would be a little harder. well unless you work for the FCC.
nah......16 is way too young. actually if i were to put an age limit on i would have to say 23 or so. i mean being the old bastard i am at the ripe age of 31 i have to have limits. but ya know if Buddy Holly can do it.......well i will leave it at that.

Uh oh......I'm 23! J/K Garrett!

I do have another question for you...can I come to the MAR event and just camp and watch everything without participating in the driving events?

sure you can. but why? you will be so tempted to go and and do things, so this will not really happen. i mean you can tag along with others in their trucks. i am sure there will be plenty of people happy to bring you along. i mean there was this 12 year old boy at MAR last year that was just hanging along the road and i stopped and he drove around in my truck with Evan and I for half the day. guess he was tired of hanging out with his folks.

wanna see my stereo susannah? haha.

:)

Susannah,

Of course..... :)

I went to Uwharrie this year, sans a Rover, since my Disco departed the week before, and my Sereis is still "under the weather"....

Come along, camp out, have a grand ol' time regardless!!!

The reasoning behind my asking is that I'm afraid if I break something while running off-road I can't afford to fix it right now!! And my Disco is my only vehicle! I would love to ride around with some other people actually to learn and observe, but we will see when I get there. Also, how much does it cost to attend? I didn't see it listed on the website.
Garrett, I'm looking forward to meeting you in person. Just to see if you are as bold off the computer as on!

hehe. no.....i am not as bold believe me. just your average joe. well ok after a few beers i get a little more talkative, but not to worry......i am always on good behavior!!! especially when Evan and the crew are around.
but that is a good idea actually to just observe and learn as much you can. i know the 'only car' feeling. so far i have been lucky and anything that or has gone wrong was easily fixable. seems that most things that happen are busted axles and diffs. but with both the truck can typically be driven home. and some things can be done in the 'field'.
but i have a feeling it will be too tempting to not get in your truck at night and take off with a small group. haha
as for the cost.....hmmmmm. did the site say? was not all that much....maybe $35 +/- or there abouts.

Is that it? I was talking with my 'other half' about the possibility of attending and he commented that his friends with Jeeps go to Rallies that cost hundreds of dollars...so I wondered. We will definitely come up and whether or not I drive the Gold Rover through the mud and muck remains to be seen. She does need to be tested...but I also need to get home!
Looking forward to the event and meeting everyone from the site. You all are great!

ok here are the details from last year, so i am assuming they will be the same.

registration is $25 prior to 9/1 ($35 after that)

saturday dinner is $15 per person and sunday brunch is $10 per person.

so hey i was close enough. bring plenty of warm gear and decent tents, etc. last year it was damn chilly and there was a hard frost the one night.

Sounds great, Garrett. Thanks again for the info. We've got plenty of camping gear and will be set with food for cooking, etc. What about dogs? Can they come?!
I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions...

pretty sure dogs are AOK. least they were last year. a series club member brought his border collie 'arrow'. i saw other dogs there too.
hey as long as you don't use a remote control shock collar on the pooch you are fine with us.

also be aware of a large man in yellow boxers with the words 'Big Daddy' on them. i think he was a hugger for the special olympics.....he just likes hugging and giving out "the love" for some reason. haha. oh.....and he drives a series IIA with a CJ bar and a fresh coat of blue paint!

Hey Garrett, just as an FYI... I saw a commercial for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this morning and I think he's got the twins on tonight!

Oh and FWIW, I saw a great demo for a "Off-the-Shelf" software called Ontrack recover files from a formatted hard drive. Pretty scary to actually see that after formatting a harddrive, re-installing a new Operating System, most of the information from the old OS is still retreivable (sp?). So, no sense clearing the history files folks!

Always a ray of sunshine, Glenn.

Now I have to go and replace my whole hard drive.
RATZ!

No big deal really guys. The solution is simple: Two hard drives. One rated "G" and the other one for your baser prowling around the net (we won't mention those files you'd rather the IRS doesn't see.....). Learn to swap and stash the hot one, and there you go! LOL!

Karen :) P.S. Glenn, that retreival technology isn't new as far as I know, though perhaps it's new to the public market. One of my old students was an FBI agent who specialized in data retreival from computers. She basically said, if you don't want anyone to ever see it, don't do it, go there or write it. More sunshine, boys! :):):)

Karen,

LOL...Yeah, I've seen the FBI guys do it a while back as well, although, I didn't think the technology is such that you can actually by a $300 "off-the-shelf", "consumer-friendly" software with fancy GUI interface that would do it.

There's a Police/Firemen/FBI training facility by us (Ramsey, NJ) where they showed a hard drive being torched and they train the would-be FBI agents to retreive information from it. Pretty cool!

And who ever said the best things in life are free?!

You just have to write zeros to the drive and then its all good... :)
