Morpheus sucks! Dont use that! GO to www.download.com & get WinMX or something, they always have new things come out for this stuff... Morpheus lets people hack into your computer way tooo easily!

hacking is getting old. if you have info that others shouldn't see then don't keep it sitting around.

kazaa is good, just make sure you check items that are in the share file and run an anti-virus auto protection program (ie: norton 2002) the pop up's are a pain but what do you want for free...

Dean, Perhaps you should actually use these programs if you are going to offer such stong opinions.

If you download Morpheus and Kazaa you will see that they are the very same tool with different names. In fact if you do a search, you will see that you even get the same results. (although I have to admit things might have changed in the past few months since I have not visited)

I've used both for about 3000 downloads. To minimize the chance of hacking, I only run the program when I want to use it. Any peer to peer program has rolughly the same risks.

Some Russian guy has hacked the Kazaa program and made Kaza Lite (or maybe Light, not on my computer right now so I don't know for sure). It is just like Kaza except no pop ups and spyware. Don't know where to download it, a friend did it for me, but I don't think it is that hard to find.

as to the kazaa thing - search for Kazaa -LITE.. might even be http://www.kazaalite.com .

Anyway, it is a kazaa-type p2p client that does not contain the spyware associated with the "real" version written by Sharman Networks. It does contain a dummy dll that will serve to fool kazaa into running (the kazaa exe will not function properly if the spyware is "cleaned" by adaware and such) so set your spyware-hunter-killers to avoid this one file (specifics included on the download site about this)

It connects to the same FastTrack P2P network as the actual Kazaa or KMD client, as well as that which the older morpheous client was allowed to use.

oh, and avoid any offers to "upgrade" to a newer version when you connect with the "lite" version - that just downloads the most recent kazaa version containing all the nasty spyware buggies.

FYI, Kazaa has a bad reputation for spyware and being a source for virus distribution.

Morpheus, WAS good, now they kinda suck and do not have the resources they once did.

Also, didn't Audiogalaxy get shut down last week?

Give WinMX a try as someone above suggested. Or there is always, Direct Connect (www.neo-modus.com), Filetopia, Blubster, or Media Seek (www.mediaseek.pl).....
