I'm looking to replace my present CB (a vintage Radio Shack) with a modern moderatly priced model with a few more features like SSB/CB. I noted that many new radios are equipped with a built in SWR meter. Is this feature as accurate for tuning an antenna as a hand held SWR meter? If I change from a "city short" antenna to a highway/off road 6 foot antenna can I tune in the new antenna with just the meter on the radio?

You can use the built in meter to ball park it. It won't come close to a good stand alone SWR meter. |
