Well, there is a group of us in Kansas City who are planning a southern route through Colorado to the National Rally. If anyone is interested in joining us, we will be into Denver Saturday midday (Sept 7th) and turn south and end up in Moab Wednesday midday (Sept 11).
We will hit as many side trails as time allows along the way: Wheeler, Red Cone, China Man Gulch, Tin Cup, Montrose... Other interesting parts of route include Cottonwood Pass, forest roads through Uncomparhge and Manti-La Sal National Forest, backwoods cabin. We will likely be camping and stopping in hotels so come prepared.
