What is involved in replacing the viscous coupling ? Is it a bolt on/ off part or is it much more involved that ?

Thanks

Transfer case has to be pulled apart. It can be done right on the truck you just have to pull the front drive shaft and a ring of bolts to pull the extension housing off the T case.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know you had a range rover as well. I have had to drive it without the rear driveshaft alotand think I might have ruined the viscous. I will test it when I put in new ujoints and diff tonight but I fear the worst so I am trying to study up.

Any other tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated as well

I've thought about changing my front housing & viscous coupling too. I think you can change it with the TC still on the truck. But half the mounting bolts are on the front housing, so you really need a trans jack and a lift to do this job.

My RR still shakes after replacing all the front axle components with new parts. That only leaves the expensive stuff...diff assembly and BW transfer case.

Sorry to hear that Randall - maybe we can share notes about the VC change-out as we go along... I am really hoping I haven't burned out the VC but I recently cut-off the exhaust - after the cats and it runs sooo much stronger, and sounds like a Harley. With just the front drive shaft in ( rear diff blew again) it runs hard and fast in 2wd. I grin everytime when I smoke the front tires off the line and shoot off then smoke them again when it shifts to second... too dumb for my own good I guess but man does that V-8 run and rumble now!!!!. If the VC is burned it was well worth it, to me ... and now I might get to put it back on blocks for more wrenching..which is why I bought the POS to begin with.

"lost control" That means its time to take another ritalin there Pokey old boy..

The Bumper - Is that an opinion or a tech/ engineering review of the bumper. Maybe you are only a computer nerd and not a wrencher who's opinions count for much - which is why I ask...you are entitled to an opinion but I want to know if I should bother to listen to anything you say other than that you enjoy drunk driving and insurance fraud ( remember that one?)

either way,

Cheers!!!

don't listen to Rob. When he's not screwing an insurance company, he's slumped over his steering column.

I MADE IT HOME BLUE!

JB i'm saying that cause kyles head is too inflated. he looks at the bumper like it was his new born baby.

As for the worth of my opinion, you have me there, i've never actually seen a KVT bumper.
