I`m about to start my Mods on my new 2002 D2. I`d like to hear some input on if what i`m doing is sound or just a waste and what ideas you all may have. End of Summer: 1) True Track front and rear or just a Rear Quaife ATB 2) Front diff guard and rear pinion guard Winter: 1)OME (HD) 2" lift with OME Shocks Spring 2003: 1) 265/75 Good Year MT/Rs Late Summer 2003: 1) Ramsey RE12000 Winch 2) Front Bumper (KVT or RTE) Fall/Winter 2003: 1) Front skid plate 2) Gas tank guard/skidplate |

Jeff, since you can't enabe CDL on your rig, I would stick with the Tru-Trac combo. With an open center diff, if you use just one locker (rear), the torque could possibly go to the front axle, rendereing your locked rear rather useless. I know it has ETC, but it's not efficient enough to channel the power to the rear. ARB doesn't even reccommend installing just one locker in DSII's for this very reason, unless you have CDL (which you don't). Consider RTE for lift as well. I have his springs and am very happy with the ride. Be careful about skid plates. They do have their place, but some designs can actually be more of a hinderence than a benefit. Unless you live in very rocky terrain, you may be giving up more clearance than you like. Overall, you seem to have your priorities in pretty good order. Don't forget recovery gear and recovery points as well. |

This is interesting because Jeffs situation is so different from Kenniths. It would seem that prioity #1 is getting the lockable T-box in. However, if that is not possible or affordable then maybe chasing good flex is the best alternative. Even with a TT front and rear, the open center diff is going to send the power to the axle with the least traction. In this case I am not sure whether ETC will brake the TT enough to engage it. Who knows though? I do know that my TT is useless unless I engage my CDL. Even detrimental. There is nothing like going up a loose climb and feeling ETC slow down the vehicle. Eeek. Curtis |

Yeah, I've got the CDL linkage, and will put it in. In 02, though, they made it very difficult to install. I think there are other options, as mentioned in other threads, but I am not sure how viable they are for Jeff. It seems he is setting up for some decent wheeling, so he may want to investigate such options. Cheers, Kennith |

Will R., I own a 2002 DII Kalahari, it came with the Air dams already removed and has the $G Sliders so i`m covered there. Ken and Curt, I`m looking into the TT diff thing. It may not be worth it. The 800 bucks it will cost me for the 2 diffs may be better spent elswhere to improver traction. To Everyone (hehe) How can I tell if I have the stub for the CDL. I know I got a 2002 disco but maybe the Kaliharis where made early enough to still have the CDL stub. |

If you have a roof rack and the cool Kalahari cloth and fabric seats, you allready will get great traction. Now all you need are some safari cloths and stickers, you will be unstoppable! Cheers, Kennith |

Yea the roof rack and the cool seats add alot of horse power and traction but the YELLOW PAINT WOOOOOOOOO makes a whole world of diffrence. hehehe Oh and I noticed even more traction and horse power when I slaped on the Disco Web stickers. |

Jeff, What kind of terrain are you in? I recently saw a stock Disco 2 walk through Uhwarrie without any problems. I even saw the right rear tire up in the air, and it didn't even move!! Wow!! I was very impressed. You might want to hold off on upgrading to a posi-diff b/c if you get bigger tires, you might want to re-gear also. If you go ahead and install TT's, then you might end up going back in again to install lower gears. Kinda like killing two birds with one stone. Just my .02 cents. Max T. |

LR Max, I`m on the east coast (in MD.) So the terrain is a bit of a mix. |
