Stay away or goto them? I am an hour 1/2 away from them (tucson) and am wondering if anyone has any stories (good/bad) about them.

Thanks

Timm

Blue,
Just in general. I am wanting to know if they are worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to have them do maintenance or am i better off having someone here in Tucson do it cheaper and closer.

I am also probably looking to trade her in eventually, and am wondering how they do with trades.

thanks

T

Stay in Tucson. Cheaper, closer, and probably just as good. Stick with a certified shop and you're fine. I know that there are a couple shops in Tucson known for their familiarity with Land Rovers, but I can't remember where I saw that info (on the web somewhere). If I find it, I'll post it here.

The dealer will be your best friend if you're trading in on another Rover. Don't expect any fantastic deals though...too many people in Scottsdale picking up $70k Range Rovers..."bargain" isn't a very familiar word over there.

I took my D2 into Scottsdale about three months ago. I had it serviced(warranty) and had the two recalls performed.

Just as I was leaving town(headed for Sierra Vista) I noticed that my A/C was not working.

They had knocked loose the wiring to my A/C while doing the ABS recall.

My rear sway bars had grease leaking from the ball joints. I asked to replace them, but they said that it was normal and would not do it. That's odd. I had my fronts replaced in Cary, NC.

Bottom line. I was not impressed.

P.S. tdixon, Did you get any rain last night?

Yes. We got enough to wet the streets.
Should get more tonight!

I do like my 94 though. I am thinking about trading it in for a 01 or newer. Except that its a bear to try and find one w/ rear AC!!!

I find it odd that the dealer wouldnt help you with the leak.

Maybe we should plan a AZ trail ride soon with everyone....of course, I still need to replace my fuel pump first so I dont die on the trail!

I have had pretty good experience when I have used Earl Miller as my service advisor. He even fitted a GBR CDL for me at a reasonable cost.If anyone is up for a Saturday trip sometime let me know.Just got back from Moab and its a little diffcult to concentrate on work.

Tdixon,

Right now they have all the forest closed due to the fire problems. Of course, that hasn't stopped me. I have been kicked out of two forest so far. There is only one area that is open that I know of. It's the Empire Ranch Valley due west of the Whetstone Mountains. This area is not exactly tough though, just scenic.

Have you met Darrell from the local Land Rover Club in Tucson? I hit two trails with him before the fire season started.

It seems that club is pretty freakin dormant. I have emailed the club several times trying to get a ride going, but never get a response. I guess they are out buying armor-all for their tyres.
