says the file size is too big, so just go to the gallery and look at the picture of the guy sliding off the two logs. If someone can make the pic smaller and post it here that would be good, I am too dumb to know how.

Yup, I had to take a double-take at that one. I wish their was a pic of the body damage. I wonder how the heck they got him off of there?

Dumb???

You obviously don't off-road or participate in any events (obstacle courses).

Dumb is the guy ramping his Hummer and then lifting the rear tire till the hummer rollsover (anyone have that video or the link?)

I don't think it's dumb. He tried and obstacle and failed...so what?

yes I offroad but no Im not going to drive across two logs just for the hell of it. How often do you come across a situation like this on a trail anyway??

It's an obstacle course. I guess when they guys from CT do it it's smart but when some italians do it it's dumb...whatever...

I don't recall ever saying it was a smart thing for guys in CT to do.

With a good spotter I might try the logs:)

you have to admit that body damage from playing on an obstacle course is pretty damn dumb....kind of like falling off the see-saw :)

now, if you're 1,000 miles into a 2,000 mile jungle trip and you use an axe and your muscles to drop two trees across a ravine that you HAVE to cross....that's a different story....

well, those i -talians are practicing for that day, blew.

i think it is stupid if you expect to come out of it unscathed. now, if you are like "i'm rich and i dont care what happens,,, and i want to try this" then god bless him, i'll be chearing the guy on (and placing bets that he'll fall), but that's cool and the gang.

i got this thing with wanting to try things , just to see if i can do them. it started with seeing how many coins i can wedege in my nose as a kid, and has evolved into driving a truck over obsticles.

yeah roberto - that kid really looks like he's training for an upcoming challenge. you should've stuck with the coins - no power steering mess to clean up.

"but no Im not going to drive across two logs just for the hell of it. How often do you come across a situation like this on a trail anyway??"

You will come across plenty of situations where tires require precise placement. In the PNW occaisionally you find collapsed bridges on old mining roads and correct tire placement makes the difference between passing by or getting stuck and causing damage. Better the italian fella finds his limitations and work on those in the open field than on a trail.

The Dicsovery on a trail a few weeks ago crossing some logs.

but you have to admit, those logs look alot wider and flater on top than the ones from the italian pics. Anyway, im not arguing against doing it if you have to in order to traverse a trail, I just don't see the point in risking the damage by doing it just for the heck of it in an obstacle course but then again I probablly have alot less money to throw around than some of you.

You are right about finding limitations in an open field instead of a trail, I just would have used some smaller logs a little closer to the ground, but then again I don't have that much money.

Oh and this hummer video John is talking about sounds really funny, does anyone know where it is???

LOL, I wasn't making a comparison to the italian party, just showing that the situation does come up.

Carter, I think you should start ramping and riding on curbs and move slowly up from there :)

ride on curbs????? ramp????? why would anyone dream of doing these things in a $40,000 vehicle. (please detect the sarcasm)

It isn't worth that much if you drove it off the dealer lot. Or do you just drive around the parking lot and then park it and go home

Really Chris? Wow, I'm glad you told me that. Yes, most of my driving is in parking lots and Kmart.

Should we put Kmart on the "endangered trails list"???????

Also known as a blance beam,

Purpose: to balance, try and inch the vehicle forward slow as possible with the ultimate goal to balance the vehicle in the level position.

Ever done that? it is not that easy....

Teaches: vehicle control and involves the aid of a good spotter or navigator, always a very good idea to understand the spotter and have good com's between driver and spotted.

The lower the swivel point the more difficult it is to balance.

Cause: If you drive off too fast, the beam tilts over to the from and the vehicle bounces up and down, likely what happened in this picture.
