C.R.O.C. (Carolina Rover Owners Club)is having one in that area that weekend. Actually, I think it was West Virginia, or maybe the Richlands Gap. Is that near by?
I was going to go on it but decided to go to the Adirondacks in Northern NY instead.

Check their website. I don't know the new url, but there is a link from their old site. Searck "Old North State Land Rover Society"

Hello Matt, do you plan on going to Livingston? I've never been but have stopped off at that exit for gas and saw 4X4's everywhere. I used to commute between Knoxville and Louisville quite a bit. Anyhow, I'd like to check that out up there. Is it a Rover club event? Was Greg correct? Let me know man if you're planning on going and what time. The lift is going on mine this weekend as well as tires I hope. Later.. Rob

I am going to try and make it. There is something that I might have to go pick up that weekend, but I don't know if it will be ready then.

It is an Ohio Valley Rover Club event: http://www.o-v-r-c.com/upcomeing%20events.htm

Are you a part of the OVRC? Looks like they have pretty stringent rules requiring sliders, Hi Lift jack, etc.. I'll be lucky just to have my lift on and my new tires before then. But, let me know if you can make it and I'll try it and see what happens.. Later.. Robert

Hey Robert,

JB Wilson and I run the OVRC. The trip you're talking about is in Livingston. We're going for the day on Sat. 7/27. It's a fun event, but not for the faint of heart. The trail we'll be doing is pretty difficult that's why we require that all vehicles be what we consider "class 3 and up". We go by these classes based on what we think is appropriate for getting through our events with no damage.

We're pretty strict on the requirements, but mostly the mods sections. For example, if you have a lift, tires, and sliders, but don't have a hi-lift jack, that's no big deal. But if you have a hi-lift jack and mud tires but no lift or sliders, that is a big deal.(see what I'm saying?)

We're not trying to bring anybody down or anything, we just don't want you pissed at us because we took you on a trail and you bent a door sill on a rock because you didn't have sliders. If you're curious about this trail, the bottom set of pictures in my photo gallery are from the trail we are going on.

If you've got a lift, tires, and sliders on your Rover, we'd love to see you there. And Matt Milbrandt and Mike Hill, I better see both of your asses there! :)

Hola Greg, I don't have any sliders.. that is definitely next though. I'm not too worried about beating the Disco up a bit.. note the dent in the front fender in this picture.Royal Blue. I probably best wait until I get some protection if it is rocky. Let me know sometime and we'll go up to Royal Blue in Caryville, TN. There are some good trails up there, some lame ones too! Thanks man, hope you have a great weekend.. Later.. Robert

Robert,

Trust me, you don't want to do the trail we are going on without sliders. There are four sections of that trail that have multiple rock ledges that you have to drop down on. I have had my D2 sitting on nothing BUT the sliders before. Two of these sections have by-passes but two don't. You can go if you want, but without sliders, I guarantee you will have damage.

I would love to hook up with you at Royal Blue, I've never been there and I would love to go with somebody that already knows the trails. Shoot me an email sometime and I'll get a couple guys to come with me. We're always up for a little wheelin'!

Joe,

Sorry, I missed you on my post to Robert. If you guys want to go, you can, I'm not going to stop you, but without sliders you're going to have to make some tough decisions on the trail we're going on. It's your call. Let me know if you're coming!

Mike W.

Yep, that's the narrows. I love that area. It's only about 2 hours from my house and it's beautiful country. I usually go there 3 or 4 times a year. It's got some great places to camp and some pretty good trails. Park Management has tamed it down a little in the last year. They dozed down some of the trails and put in gravel in some places, but give it another year or two and the Jeepers with 38" Swampers will make it interesting again. :)

Greg,

Thanks for the wisdom. I would be foolish not to heed your advice. Maybe the poject next week should be installation of sliders!
