I'm trying to buy another rover from a guy in Raleigh. But my bank requires that the check and bill of sale be signed and notarized at the same time, meanin both of us have to be in the room. This is unrealistic as I'm 1000 miles away. I've tries working with the bank but they won't budge. Does anyone have any other ideas as to how I can get around something like this? Thanks. I'm in desperate need of adding another rover to the stable..... |

Dave, I am a notary in Wilmington, NC. You should be able to have one signed before a notary in his/her locale and the other signed before a different notary. No reason they have to be the same notary. -Marc |

Ask your bank if you can do escrow. The seller will know that the funds are with a third party, he can have the bill of sale notarized where he is, send it to the bank, then the bank releases the funds. I do not believe there is a legal reason for your bank to request that you are both present to do the deal, however, this could be a bank policy. Try this and if it does not work try another bank |
