Well, my vanity plate came in today. I ordered without my wife seeing it. For starters, tell me what you think it means (seriously-please). Remember, it's going to be on Winston (my DSII in the gallery). Here it is:

DRTYTHTS

Based on what the consensous is, I may not be using it!

Shit. That's what my wife said! Quote "Riding around with our daughter in the car and that plate. People will think you're a dirty 'ol man". I figured people would put the Rover and the plate together. She now thinks the plate is inappropriate! Damn Damn Damn!

I ran it by a couple of people before I ordered it. Of course, they were both avid Rover owners that 'wheel alot. Is it inappropriate? Distasteful? I thought it was pretty cool myself.

If I pulled up behind you in traffic, I would think it is cool. Hell, I would post on DWEB: "Hey Greg, I have plate envy!"

The problem is living in the Bible belt with a plate like that. Shit man, you cannot buy lottery tickets because they're the devil's work! Somebody driving behind you in an electric car will freak out and next thing you know, the FBI is staking out your house.

DRTYTHTS came to my mind in a gutter type way also.

Could you change it to DIRTYRVR? DRTY RVR?

Can't change anything. The plate's sitting at home. Came in today and got the call from the wife. Sometimes, I just can't win.

Here ya go Greg, here is what you need:

RN U OVR

With them big tires and good approach angle, I bet you could scare a few Civics!! And get one that is like this:

RVO U NR

Put this on your front bumper and have fun with the low riders!!

I had a friend that did something similar...was into horses and riding and her name was Em. Her plate came out as HORS4EM and guys were giving her hell about it. She changed it.

I've got 4THMTNS and people even get that one confused. I'm with your wife...not a good idea. Better order something else!

Greg, just put it on and live with it. Every body is allowed to have dirty thoughts. Even married guys.. :) I have GRN RVR on mine and every body keeps thinking it's "green river".. Drives me nuts but, I don't want to change it to GRN ROVR cause then I would lose my NRA plates.

Maybe I missed something...but what does it really mean.

Oh and ya, dirty thoughts was the first thing to my mind.

A buddy of mine wanted to get "RUN U DWN" for his 'vette here in VA. The DMV asked him what it meant and, even after his totally plausible story, denied the plate issue. (He stated he was a runner.) I guess they thought that plate was a tad aggressive for the road. Maybe they were right not to give it to him. He is current serving a one-month house arrest because he allegedly tried to run a woman down with his car. Oops. :)

Greg, I wouldn't have any problem with the plate you have, but then again I can see your wife's concern. How about STOLNRVR, RUGD DSII, or something similar? With eight letter to play with, you can have alot of fun. :)

Greg: What exactly does it actually mean? I sub-vocalized "thirsty" with a lisp. So I am useless to ask about these things....

I have a rover and I don't get that plate.if it helps, even if you use all 7 letters you can still have 1 space, that may help. My plate says IRISH NV (irish envy) and noboby gets it they all think the NV must be nevada or native or some shit.
Anyway what does the plate say.

Camille (Gwagenbabe)
Posted on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 - 08:25 pm:   Edit Post Delete Post Print Post

My plate says G-WAGN Some people (who know what the car is) get it, and others dont... The DMV in Franklin County almost didn't give it to me, because they thought that I was trying to be profane!! I don't know what you could really make out of that. I tried to get RUNUOVR for my dad's G, and they wouldn't let me! I that impeeds on freedom of speech...

My mom's disco says ORNGRVR. It's orange.

'Dirty Thoughts' came to mind immediately (no pun intended!) and I agree with your wife. Do you really want to be driving your daughter around and have that on your plates. Some people would get it, but I bet most would not and just think you are someone they wouldn't want to have near their children.

sorry...

Well its your truck and your plate. Who give two shits what everyone in the world thinks. They probably call you names in traffic any way. Also , think about this , if the plate said "URAIGIT" it would be an acurate statement about 90% of the people that read it.. :)

On the subject of vanity plates Kyle, I've found WATROAD for ya, just need to snap a picture one day. It's actually Watt Road but close enough. I tried to snap a pic after I passed the exit today.. perhaps next week on my Chattanooga run.. Later.. Robert

And Greg, I have not a clue what that means if it isn't Dirty Thoughts.. enlighten us who aren't so bright..RS

Greg Davis

Yes, It's Dirty Thoughts, meaning thinking of lots of dirt roads (ie 'Wheelin). Anyway, the plate's NOT going on. After a lot of thought, it just won't be received very well by most, and I need to consider all involved, not just me. If I were single, I'd say "To hell with it", but that's not the case.

So, I'm sitting here thinking of another plate since my current tag is no longer valid and my vanity plate isn't going on. Here's a few of my coices so far:

CNUFOLW? = Can You Follow?

TRY2FLLW = Try To Follow

OFFTH RD = Off The Road

RUGGEDD2 = Rugged DII (Thanks Diesel!)

Any other suggestions?

Well, my friend had two of his plates taken away after someone called the DMV and complained about them. He had an old hunk of crap toyota from like the 70s and the plate was JAPJUNK.. Then he got a Volkswagon and had KRAUTCR.. People called the DMV and said they were offensive and the DMV took them from him.

You really got 8 numbers.. We only get 7 or 6 depending on the plate type.. You could also do ROCKROVR, MUDROVER, ROLMEOVR (would have to mount the plate upside down for that one)..

OK. We're getting somewhere now. So far. my choice is

GOT DIRT? Thanks Ken!

Only thing is I think Troy McNeil (Had a DSI but has a D90 now) had that while he was here in NC. He's in CO now, so that may not be an issue. Plus, I don't think he had the question mark. Keep 'em coming. I'm getting really close now!

Oh, this is for Kyle. .

See, he's one of the people that got me into this by saying Dirty Thoughts was good.
