Hello Everyone,
Just browsing thru eBay today and saw this for sale:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1846334153
How is that possible? I didn't think that defenders would be back here till 2005. Anyone know if this is legit...can't quite read the license plate on the 110. If anyone is down in Miami Florida maybe you should check it out.

Are those Hawaii licence plates on that thing?

Now that I look at those pics closer...the scenery looks more like Hawaii than Florida. Looks like it's parked on volcanic rock...don't see too much of that in Florida.

I thought the same. The HAwaii scenery and plates don't match the Florida location. I've seen a lot of newer 110's and 90's being sold in Hawaii. What's the deal with that? You can bring them in there, but not in any other of the 49?

As an ex Hawaii resident, yes that is in Hawaii. Judging by the lava flow, it is more than likely on the Big Island.

actually, if you go to the seller's feedback and click on the first item that he bought, it was the 110: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1822275351

that guy was in Hawaii, so it looks like this guy is just using the same picture. Now, question is, why is he selling it after only a month of ownership?

He probably found out he can't register it.

But how did it make it into Hawaii?

this guy has been offering 110's in hawaii for some time now..

all of which are legal for him to register in the state of hawaii, however none of them are legal to drive in the United States (all the states not just the mainland)..

just because you get a title from your state does not make it legal by any federal standard

the national highway traffic safety administration are the people that decide if a truck is legal to drive in the country (not legal to import)...to the best of my knowledge you can import the 110 as a tractor or museum item..perhaps thats how it gets past customs and then he gets a state title on it..but in the end his truck is still not legal.

this issue has been pretty much beaten to death. I've posted something up on the defender section for those wishing to import. If you don't like the process of buying a car to begin with, then importing is not for you. If you must have a 110 then look at the NAS 110 from 1993. It will cost you about the same to import as it will to purchase. Also consider that in England the 110 is still a farm truck and now a 9 year old one that is rusty, you'll be happier with the maintence and use quality of the NAS spec 110...

If you boyz would like sticker shock. I e-mailed ECR to see about a basic 110 P/U with Salisbury rear end standard front, OME shocks&springs, AC,5spd said I want a plain jane inside and out.
Well they replied (now the e-mail was only a quote not the final $$$) you can have one for $90,000 and 12month from order conformation. that did not matter if it was a 4.6 or 300tdi in it.
I know they do excellent work and they take a D-90 as the platform but DAMN I finally relized I am a poorman in a richmans world:) I was thinking more like 30 to 40K. I am glad I was sitting down when I read that.
