Anyone seen the new '03 Disco commercials yet? Actually pretty cool. My fiance called me last night because she had just seen it. She said made her excited because she will soon "own" a Disco. |

Yep, saw it on the Discovery channel last night. Pretty cool, good mixture of obligitory Africa shots and then Downtown Poseur pics. Not as good as the Trek 2000/2001 commercials but not nearly as bad as the commercial of the Pregnant chick on the beach with a swimsuit showing how she has COURAGE. Almost sold my rover the day I saw that one! |

Is that the one with the CT Disco I in the ad for the '03 Disco? |

Rember the one where the couple was on the way to the opera and decided to pick up a stray dog in the rain on the side of the interstate instead? I still get sick when I even think about it. |

I agree with Bri and Carter, the pregnant lady on the beach, the poor wet doggy.. good God almighty. IMOH that was a Terrible ad campaign. I actually enjoyed alot of the Nissan Xterra commercials. Why couldn't LR have made commercials that made the Rover look cool and display what an offroad monster that they are? Instead, it shows a pregnant lady on the beach.. Yikes.. I haven't seen the '03 commercials but I'm sure I will this weekend while up late channel surfing.. Later.. RS |

I like the new Nissan Pathfinder commercials with the shots of the "relay" in the desert, snow and jungle. Too bad LR can't get it in their collective heads to market like that... Ron Ward |

Yeah, the thing I don't like about the Pathfinder commercials is they have this motto that is something along the lines of "Not that you would, but you could". They pretty much spell it out in black and white: "Attention poseurs, buy this car" |

That one exterra commercial where the dude on the Kayak uses the alarm as a beacon is pretty cool. But no, we are to busy shuttling pregnant chicks to the beach and picking up rain soaked doggies on the road. WTF. I would love to see a commercial demonstrate the ability of a disco to haul large quanties of beverage and food to the middle of BFE! Paul Buzzin..... |

I LIKED THE DOG COMMERCIAL TOO!!! It brought tears to my eyes...but the dog did look a little like the old guy I had as a child. And I was still pining away for a Disco in those days. Karen, we are on the same wavelength! |

Oh Sus, don't believe everything you read on DiscoWeb. These macho boys were cryin' into their brews when the "opera" couple stopped to pick up that dog. As for the pregnant woman at the beach ad, I never saw it, but I'll just point out that some MAN made her preggers, eh? LOL! Karen |

I never saw the woman on the beach ad either. I wonder if it was a short-run attempt? And I agree...these guys aren't so tough. They would all melt for a woman in a muddy Disco!! |

I'm just glad we don't have commercials with Discos driving under shark infested water or in the rain on the deck of an aircraft carrier. ...yet. |

The ill-fated (and oft maligned) series of ads produced by LRNA a couple of years ago featuring pregnant woman and wet dogs was an attempt to appeal to women. At the time, women were the largest growing market in the SUV category and here in the US, women were constituting a larger share of Disco sales. Of course, as we all know, that's just not in keeping with LR heritage. Hence the return to normalcy. BTW, the Trek spots were produced because they need commercials and had no money. They were basically made by lifting video from the events and setting them to music. |

Hey Sus! Looks like we were suckered in by wet dog marketing! I thought it was all those safari flicks I saw as a kid, but I guess it was the wet dog in the end. Dayum, had it been a wet PREGNANT dog, who KNOWS what I would have done! LOL! Karen |

Our research shows that had it been a WET PREGNANT DOG we might very well have pushed you too far. Synapses could have been damaged. Ticks and involuntary movements created. But mostly your maternal instincts would have gone postal. This may or may not have resulted in the purchase of a Volvo wagon, assorted greenpeace stickers and the opening of a kennel/shelter in your living room. Extreme cases have also lined their dashboards with Beanybabies. In the end, our lawyers advised against it. Cokeandataco |

Yeah, those sad brown eyes get me every time! That's how I got three dogs and a rabbit at home...horses in the past...and my fiance too! Oh wait, he has green eyes! Karen, we will just have to watch out for all the ads they put up during day-time television....laundry detergent, clothing sales...it's ALLLL targeting women. But by damn, I just wanted a Disco! |

Sus, I hereby bequeath all the laundry detergent and other cleaning product advertising to my houseboy. As the supervisor of my domain, I'm delegating. Now, to find that houseboy..... Karen |
