That's awesome that Lance Armstrong won the tour for the 4th year in a row.

VERY cool! Between this and the rescue of the miners, it's a great news day. I stayed up late last night watching the rescue. It almost never works out that way, so what a relief!

The guy is amazing. Anyone recall the name of his book? I'd like to read it.

Thanks,
Todd

"It's Not about The Bike" is the name of the book and I think I'm gonna read it again. I'm going for a ride!

KJ,

I work in the state gov't in mining regulation, and know a lot of folks in PA, also in gov't jobs, and have been WAY beyond concerned. Actually, I had NO hope, I was SURE they had died of hypothermia if not drowned; when they said that all nine were alive and well, I was truly shocked to the core.... completely amazing. If you all don't know what it's like in a coal mine, well, it's not any kind of work you would really want to do.... I'm glad that my coal-related job is in the gov't, and not as a miner......

Speaking of bikes, I'm SORE!!! Led a "Geology of the Creeper Trail" bike ride today, and, I'm not in shape anymore for spending hours in the saddle. I'm not looking forward to the morning...... lol.... What was funny, I started out the ride with "Okay everyone, do you all know what is going on in France? That's right, Lance is in the Tour de France... NOTICE, I'm not there on his team. This is going to be a LEISURELY ride....." :)

lol....

Leslie,

Not to steal Lance's thunder on this thread, but I've been hand-wringing all week about the mining accident. I was sure it would be a body recovery, too, so it was just thrilling to see them being lifted out of the hole! I tried to go to sleep last night, but I turned the tube right back on and watched until the last man was pulled free.

As for you old-timer, better get some more bike time in! You're too young to be feelin' the pain!

Karen :)

I concur, not trying to detract from Lance's amazing accomplishment..... but I'm VERY glad the miners came out not much worse for the wear....

And you're right, I NEED to ride my butt off.....literally!!! :)

Yeah...what Lance accomplished is amazing. I can't wait until next year to see if he can win a 5th straight. That would concrete his place at the top of the all time greatest road riders...not to mention the fact that he nearly died of cancer! It bothers me though that his accomplishments barely recieve a blurb on SportsCenter when all of these over paid retards on steroids recieve $250 million contracts and threaten to strike recieve all of the air time with idiot commontators saying sh*t like "booya" when some freak hits a homerun off of a pitcher that does not belong in the league but got there because of expansion.
Sorry just had to get that off of my chest!
Chad
