OK, seeing that you guys know everything about..well EVERYTHING. What do you know about electricity and a kitchen remodel? Is there any rule of thumb for laying out a small kitchen electrical circuit? As in, count the total wattage for all the stuff you have and ad five watts, or something like that? Also should a dishwasher, microwave or fridge have its own breaker. Its a small kitchen for two people with a gas range. Thanks for your help as always Carl ..sorry for the non-Rover post, but the sooner I finish the kitchen, the sooner I can break my Rover |

definitely isolate the kitchen appliances on the breaker panel (depending on total load, one or two "kitchen" breakers should suffice). Might be a good peace-of-mind idea to hire local electrician for a quick visit. |

Also , plugs cannot be in certain areas by code. Anything thats within 3 feet of a water source must be GFI. Your typical Breaker for outlets and such is a 20-25 amp breaker so split them up according to load. Dont load the breaker down beyaond 80% of its capacity. Kyle |

My $.02 In a kitchen or bathroom, it's cheap peace of mind to make everything GFCI (use GFCI breakers instead of outlets) Also - if you have the panel room - throw in a one or two more circuits than you think you should have - probably one extra since you're talking a small kitchen. Happy remodeling Bill |

Hey Carl! I'm off today and tomorrow doing some demolition (very therapeutic, actually) in our kitchen. New cabinets coming in this weekend and I want to get the kitchen ready for these new ones. I'm kinda doing the same thing you're doing but luckily, I'm just reusing existing outlets. Probably have to take some time off next week as well for the install. Hehehe, completing this kitchen project mean more Disco toys points with the wife ...hmmm.. let's see, KVT bumper, winch.... Good luck! -glenn |
