I would like to add a GPS unit to my RR. I have an iPaq 3600, and was wondering if anyone had experience with GPS adapters for PDA's or if I am better off just getting a seperate GPS unit.

Thanks
Mike

Separate GPS unit. Definitely.

IMHO, FWIW.....

Garmin.

:)

lol.... I wasn't trying to be brusque, just brief for once....

I prefer Garmin, but, I like the Trimbles we have at work, too.... but, they're more of a work-tool, not a recreational unit (especially at several thousand dollars apiece).

Do you want something for multi-use, like for the Rover and for hiking too? If so, I have to say that I really love my Garmin GPSMAP 76S. If you want something for just the vehicle, you can go with a panel like a Garmin 176.

I'm not going to say anything bad about Magellan, or Lowrance, or Eagle, I just like Garmin better. Brunton, I like a lot of their stuff, but they're always not cheap, and you don't necessarily get more for your money.

IMHO, YMMV.....

LOL Garrett

Mike- Don't let Garrett confuse you, the 176 is a GREAT unit, and while there are a TON of features, it will only take a couple of weeks of everyday driving use to get the hang of it.

I got my 176 used 2.5 weeks ago and I think I've pretty much got the hang of it. I did screw up this weekend by forgetting to start a route for a map overlay, but that's just owner stupidity rather than a complication of the unit. :)
