today after picking up some food, I get in my rangie and start the car. (as usual) Then after taking the e-brake off, the shifter would not budge from park to reverse!! So i thought it was just a one time thing, well obviously not. 10 trys later I called AAA. so an hour later the man arrives to flat bed it away. same thing for him,the car would not get out of park. So he aggressively puts his foot down on the brake pedal and finally gets it to budge. So he puts it back in park, and trys again and it WOULDNT GO!! So he did the same as before aggressively put his foot on the brake and got it to reverse. Has this happened to anyone else? Its at the dealership now and were thinking it has something to do with the brake line sensor? Your thoughts on this?? thanks Jeff |

mine has been acting up in a similar way, but after a few wiggles/hard budges and application of the brake I get it to go back - I will watch this thread with much interest! I had thought that maybe the linkage in the shift lever was acting up. I didn't think that the rangie's were equipped with the brake actuated shift-lock?? cheers |

Check other threads on this and the Disco section. Check the brake lights/fuse, first. The brake light switch can fail and leave you with no shift, but check the fuse before the switch. It can be jumperd if you know how to find the right feed and return. |
