Dave, I saw that auction last week and started thinking: 1. Would the thieves really have gone thru all the trouble of repainting the Disco? Probably. 2. Would they have been able to break all the glass and the inside in a parking lot without attracting attention (even at night)... that doesn't sound right to me. Why wouldn't they strip the truck and sell the parts (new term "eBay dat bitch")? What came to my mind was that someone did an Insurance job on it like my cousin Vinny does here in Crooklyn...oh, sorry, I meant Brooklyn (no offense Carl).. Now, if the thieves really did all this damage then they are punks. |

I was thinking along the same lines John. The painting bit, could be done with very little effort. But the rest, just doesn't make sense. Of course, how would I know anyway. It's just a shame to see a nice Disco in such tough shape due to someone's disregard. |

Those were my first thoughts as well. Too many different areas of the vehicle were damaged. They made sure that the expensive items were trashed so it would be totalled. |

What I thought was odd was that these "vandals" took the time to order new decals "Land Rover" on the hood, and the "SD" on the side. I agree with all, that seems fishy. Only experience I've had with stolen vehicles is a few people around me, friends, and family getting their cars stolen. They were (1) never recovered (1992 Honda Accord), crashed into a pole after a police chase through the ghetto (Plymouth Sundance or something like that), and lastly, set aflame in the ghetto (Chevy Cavalier Z24, rice boy slammed and chromed project type). |

Could be that the people that stole it were using it to transport drugs. They probably got attacked by a group that wanted to steal the drugs and the would be attackers probably started beating the hell out of the truck and passangers in it. Then the seats were sliced open to get the drugs out after the said passangers were dispossed of. Truck was then left in a parking lot as it was not longer needed. It happens. |
