I've only seen it done with non-abs trucks. Typically the vacuum canister is moved over the wheelarch, and the second battery is placed in the tray. However, If you use a smaller but powerful second battery, you could get away without having to move anything. The old Black Panther battery would fit. This battery was made by Hawker Energy products. They have a wide range of powerful dry-cell batteries that will fit without modifications. Just make sure you wallet is fat before you go calling them. -P |

Thx P. It is an ABS equipped RR, '93, currently with a redtop Optima. Any other suggestions that could also be helpful??? The other area where there was room is used by an ARB compressor and I would like not to move it. Just looks awfully tight space wize under there now. Jaime |

forgot about that site JB - good info there, however, missed how to get 2 batteries in there before needing the isolators, etc.. Did I miss it?? Rob, must admit if I had to do it all over again, would have started with a '89. Jaime |

well.. that LWB action is something i really wish i had. i nearly hit someone last week and the car behind wasn't so lucky and hit me softly, didnt do a thing to the rtange and uglied up his plastic bumper. the thing i loved was i nailed the brakes and locked all 4 tires up and it felt just like it was supposed to , no pedal feeling hard and me smashing into the car, if i had the ABS i would have hit no doubt. rd rd |

Jamie et al: About 10 to 20% of the 1990, 1991 and 1992 Range Rovers did not have ABS. Sorry to change the subject or show my ignorance on ABS braking, but... Can you just remove the ABS system from the truck?? Isn't it just some sort of redundant, automatically operating brake system that would only go into effect if you stand on the brake pedal?? Traction Control showed up in 1993 model. Randall |

yeah, the extra length is enough for one of the dogs to lay there and room for a cooler. the back though is the same on both versions. with the current setup on it, not sure if the ride would be any different. RR is fine, but, your neck and back though are beginning to hurt aren't they?? hehe. Jaime |

well i just got my seat switches working again, they were both doing that thing. so now i am adjusting it all over the place and loving it. i like to drive around at full height on the seat and the headliner is sagging just enoguh to hit my hair on, very annoying. i see some place on ebay selling headliners for 119. not too bad i suppose. rd |

Ok, simply mount the battery where your ARB comp is then relocate your ARB. I've seen it 1)inside the cargo area 2) right next to the ABS pump. Even though the unit is noisy inside the vehicle, it'll stay cooler and live longer. Or you can mount a belt driven air comp! Just a thought. |

i am not quite that desperate blue, but it's better than the brass tack methode most people suggest. what the hell are you doing down here in rangie world? you thinking of converting blue? got a hankering for a classy looking truck, dump that boxy van and join our ranks. hehehe rd |

Speaking of headliners, I bought one at www.headlinermart.com for around $100. He gave me plenty of extra for doing the sunshade too. If you do buy some from him, ask him the exact name of the 3M adhesive he recommends. FYI. |

Randall, I guess you missed my big rant about the Rangie ABS system. If your ABS system fails, it takes ALL the brakes with it. Ask me how I know. There IS a relay you can remove to ditch the abs system and still have braking. I have mine out at present. If you are interested I'll tell you privately, but if you kill yourself, it's not my fault. By the way, LR went away from this system by the time the Disco was introduced to the US. I suppose they realized the inherent danger. One faulty ABS relay can render your truck without anything but an emergency brake. -P |

Perrone: Fortunately I don't have ABS brakes, just wondering if the system could be put in the trash can. Jaime: Another possibillity is to get one of those CO2 air tanks to operate your diff lockers. I've got one and they work as advertised. |

Perronne - I am not litigious and would like to disable my ABS brakes. What relay do I pull ? Anyone ? Thanks - JB |

Thanks Randall - good idea as I've never used the pump for airing the tires. P - I was under the impression there was more to disabling the ABS system than just pulling a relay. Ali - it is certainly noisy under the hood let alone in the vehicle!! thx though for the suggestion. |

For the longest time, I too though you could not disable the ABS system by simple means. However, my total brake system failure due to a faulty ABS relay forced me to examine the situation a bit closer. To wit: If you open the drivers side door and look down at the seat base there is a panel. Remove the panel and you will find 3 relays and 2 banks of fuses. Pull the middle relay. This will disable the ABS system, but keep the pump so that you don't get left without brakes. Please note, if you pull either of the other two, you may be left without ANY brakes at all. Try this is an unpopulated and level area. I did it in a vacant parking lot for testing purposes. I've been running like this for about 10 months now. -P |
