could someone with a 4 door rangie with a zf and lt230 measure how far the tcase COULD be moved back before it interferes with the body and what hits first and where PLEASE. If your a really kind person could you also see if a 2" body lift will make any difference?
Cheers

Daryl,

I´ve just been under my Range. Hard to give you exact figures.
Problem is the handbrake drum. Without it you´d have 2"space at least. It is important of course to be able to remove the drum. What I couldn´t test was how far it needs to be slid backwards. The Rangies floor is excavated in this area to make this possible in form of a "half-cirlce". This excavation has two radius making assesment even more difficult. But this excavation ends at a distance which is about handbrakedrumheight + 1" starting measurement at the rear face of the drum. So I don´t think moving the stuff backwards is a good proposition.
Lifting the body would change things. A lift of 2" would help. If you want to do this lift anyway then I would start with it.
Sorry that I cannot give you more precise information but it can be 1/8 of an inch between "just works" and "does not work". So needs to be checked when reuniting you transm.-assembly and the Range.

If you´d planned to move the engine back then I wouldn´t be sure about space to the bulkhead and the catalysator will touch the crossmember after 1".

Considering the work I would expect to fit some "foreign" piece of transmission part between Rover gearboxes - wouldn´t it be easier to lower the diffs and/or t-box gear ratios ?

regards,
Hendrik

(By the way - the handbrake is in the same location with BorgWarner boxes. Needs to be -so I think- because the rear driveshaft is the same. May be on Range of this kind is within your reach.)

Thanks Hendrik, I was thinking dual case for more versatility and lower overall. I dont want to mess with diff gears, i have a 1.4 tcase and will probably never run bigger than 33-34" tyres, and the only other option in the price range is maxi-drive gears for the tcase, just exploring options at this point..
2" of space isnt very close to the 8-9" it would take to do a double...
Cheers

Could be an option, but still not an easy one to move just the engine forward. But I fear there will be problems there aswell (oil pan,..)
