In official Land Rover websites is to read, that in March 03 will take place this challenge for non-professional people, starting from New York.
Will be this the continuity of Camel Trophy?
Saludos

They have a short article about it in this Months LRO, it is going to take place on several continents and sounds pretty cool, even said that alot of the modifications made to the vehicles will probablly be made available to the public after crash testing (I wouldn't think they will be available over here though but I might be wrong). Anyway according to the article the official details should be released in september and they have made a deal with the discovery channel to broadcast it.

That'd be Global Challenge from Land Rover. Huge event here in North America next year for the first one. No cigarettes or Honda-powered dingy this time - it's all Land Rover. Sixty countries or more participating East to West.

There was a thread revolving around the four trucks (orange DIIa, Defender 110, Freelander and Range Rover 03) with Maryland plates seen all over the United States. They were shooting some footage for the event and scouting the route.

Don't know about you guys,

But I already signed up for the application papers. I only hope I'm back in time to qualify. What the hell, right? You only go around once!

"Listen up, everybody!" "I got somethin' ta say: It's better to burn out, than to fade away!"

G4 will launch in New York city using Freelanders and will feature urban 'survival' like climbing buildings etc. then will move NE to Quebec for some off roading. Then the teams will fly to South Africa and pick up defender 110s for more of the same urban/backcountry climbing, kayaking, etc., then to Australia (Sydney to the York peninsula using Range Rovers), then back to the US for the finals Moab to San Francisco on Discoverys. One representative from each of the 16 participating countries will compete, teaming up with a different partner on each 'stage' for a 'multi-cultural' flair.

If you'all remember the 98 camel trophy (skiing, boarding, biking, etc) G4 will be very much like that, for good or bad.

Stay tuned, there will be lots of tv and print mags articles. It is LR's largest PR event since Camel Trophy.
