Any of you know of a good custom muffler shop around town? I totally tore up my muffler a few weeks ago, now its almost fallen off (its barely hangin on with wire), & nobody in roanoke, salem or blacksburg will touch my car w/a 10 foot pole since its wierd...

Camille,

Talk to perfection muffler on Peters Creek Rd. They can fix pretty much anything unless it is stainless.

Diesel ~

I spoke with them earlier today, and all they can do is put it back in its place. It is stainless steel. Its pretty torn up & loud now, because it fell off & was dragging this morning on 581. :(

a guy at work told me to take my Disco to the muffler shop behind the John P. Hughes Dodge dealership in Madison Heights. it's an extension of the dealership, but he tells me they do good work at good prices. the only difference in my situation is that i was looking to replace my muffler with a flowmaster, not fix or replcae a stock part. it would be worth a try seeing what they could do for you though.

Diesel - are you in Lynchburg? Susannah and James and i have talked briefly of a meet and greet some time, you interested?
Camille - would be cool to see the G-Wagen too if you're interested.

Camille,

When I lived in Radford, I had a friend named Sean who had a muffler shop, who helped me many a time. I looked up his number, and he's relocated now... The name of the shop is "United Muffler", and the phone number is (540)-639-1417. His new shop is located at 7554 Peppers Ferry Boulevard.

Go down I-81 to exit 109, and follow route 177 into town, right into downtown next to RU, all the way to the T-intersection with Highway US-11. Turn left onto 11, and go through the downtown section. Turn right onto the bridge, so you can follow highway US-11 across the bridge over the New River, heading towards Pulaski (heading west on 11). Once you're across the river, it's not quite a mile 'til you hit an intersection with Peppers Ferry Boulevard coming in from the right. Take the right onto Peppers Ferry... go past the Wal-Mart on the left, and maybe a 1/2 mile past, will be the muffler shop...

I'll be shocked if he can't manage to help you get something on there that will work as well as stock, if not better.

Give him a ring, and see how it goes....

Good luck,

-L

Thanks Mantaray & Leslie! I'll be calling both of those guys today.

I fly out of the Lynchburg airport all the time (i'm trying to finish up my private pilot's license) So for sure, if you guys let me know where & when, I'll bring the G down :)

Camille,
No problem.... when I was a broke grad student trying to keep my Jeeps on the road, Sean was a big help.... other shops in the area I would tell you to RUN from, but Sean was as honest a fellow as I have seen.

Marc,
I lived in Radford for 2 years while in grad school. Nice town, great scenery on campus, especially in the spring! :)
I'm now near Kingsport, sitting on the TN-VA line, which is "back home" for me. The wife's dad is from coastal NC, from New Bern. I spent a bit of time at Lejeune myself, and can't get to the Outer Banks often enough....

Mantaray,

I lived in Roanoke as of a week ago. I moved to ATL last Sunday. I am going to be around Roanoke off and on for the next couple of months. It would be nice to meet a few folks up there in Lynchburg so I have someone to wheel with when I visit. Email me sometime at sojourner0123@yahoo.com. Also, the MAR is coming up the first week of October, which I will be attending.

Diesel - still trying to decide on MAR. i don't know if i can afford it. hopefully i can go and meet some of the people i've "met" here. if all goes well, i may not be in this area much longer though. thinking about maybe moving to Raleigh for a year or so.

Hell yeah Mantaray. Raleigh is a great place. Plenty of Architectural firms too. (Including my father's.) Come play!

JR- what does your father's firm do, and are they looking for help? :) any help or contacts you could provide me would be much appreciated. it's not a sure thing that i'm coming down there, but it's looking more and more likely. drop me an e-mail. jeepfreak@vt.edu don't fret over the Jeep thing, i have both the Disco, and the YJ. :)
