I am having a small battle with the Land Rover dealer in Vancouver, BC. I live in Victoria on Vancouver Island, a 2 hour ferry and 2 hour drive from the dealer.

I have just had my 98 Disco serviced at 45,000 kms, aside from the numerous, inevitable leaks from anything that has fluid, the exhaust system and muffler has totally corroded, and no, I don't leave it parked in water.... However, they do say the Island is sinking?? :-)

I have a fabulous local mechanic, the dealer in Vancouver is refusing to allow him to do warranty repairs and demanding I take the vehicle to Vancouver. Because of various issues I won't bore you with, this is just not feasible right now, and this vehicle needs fixing. I've contacted LRNA and am awaiting their response...

Any suggestions, does the vehicle *have* to be repaired by a dealer. I thought if it was a qualified mechanic using authentic parts......

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

AFAIK, you're free to have whoever repare it w/ genuine parts, but you pay for it... it would have to be a dealer or authorized service center for LRNA to cover their warranty.

Take that w/ a grain of salt, though: I never had to take my Disco to the dealer or any other shop while it was under waranty, I do my own work.

FWIW...

Best o' luck,

-L

What dealer? Richmond or MCL?

MCL - Richmond has just come up with a brilliant solution - use RoadSide Assistance to have the damn thing towed to Richmond.

MCL wouldn't even bother returning my phone call.

Cheers

Have an atoorney write a letter to LRHQ in Landover Md. They get very paranoid and respond quickly. I used to have a friend that worked there and he told me that they often but back trucks before they are deemed lemons to in a effort to save their reputation. They have a whole department for dealing with pissed off customers. They even have mechanics there to put the bought back trucks through "opperation pride" so they ca sell them back to the publi.

I heard a small bird say something that Richmond is treading on thin ice with LRNA.....maybe a casual threat would help. Phone Rian, the owner of the Cowell groups son, he manages Richmond.
