Just flew to Daytona Beach and drove this back to Michigan (what a sweet drive through the mountains in SC, NC and TN). 1979 MGB, 55K, new paint, interior, shocks etc. Now the only problem is which Disco sits outside during the summer, mine or my wifes.

Any links you want to send/post would be appreciated (I'm kinda partial to Moss Motors though. Got most of my parts through them when I restored my 73 Midget). Hard to tell which can be more finiky though a Rover or an MG? I must have a twisted fetish for crummy eletronics though. I keep buying stuff based on good ole Lucus ("Prince of Darkness" used to be the slogan and I know why from first hand experience):)

Bryan try www.propermg.com better prices then moss. I will send you a file of all the links I have saved over the years. Have you signed up for the MG email list yet? Try www.team.net and look at the list. Really active list with a bunch of good people.
If Lucas makes you too crazy let me know and I will show you how to switch the lucas alt out for a AC-Delco. Really easy to do and less the $70 to do it.

Should have got the pre-1974, but still a sweet ride. A friend of mine got a 1973 MG and it is a blast to drive. If you see another MG on the road, they will definetly wave at you. They even wave at Land Rover and Jaguar owners too. I hear that a 200hp MG will blow the doors off a GT Mustang.

Or you can just find a wrecked Disco and put in the 4.0. The 78-80 models are already set up to take the engine. I am happy with my 2.0L in mine (lighten body). It is enough to take out my friends mustang from the start but his top speed kills..
I was starting to convert my 71MGBGT over to a V8 but I lost the garage I was using so I had to sell it. Nothing like a V8 MG..=-)

Don, already ordered stuff from Proper (much better prices than Moss)and yes, send the links. As far as a pre 74, couldnt find one that was original or close to it(most people really cobble these cars up). As far as waving, ya we wave at anything english. Coolest thing about english cars/trucks is they all have a personality that is individual to each vehicle. Think about it, does your Rover do strange stuff that no one elses does? Both of mine do. Not really sure if it's a Rover bug that bites you or the fact that the truck has a personality. MG's are much the same.

Oh it is the personality.. I was bit hard by the MG bug. Enough to have a 55TF, 69B, 71BGT, 71 Midget. The Rovers are the same. Once you get one they are in your blood. You put up with the quirks but after that you have so much fun driving one to hell with the work you have to do to keep them on the road. Now, if I could just find a good price on one of the new Mini's =-)
Bryan let me set up my laptop so I can connect to my email server and I will zip up my links.. About 20 of them.

The dealer/mechanic that sold me both Rovers, rebuilt my 73 MG (also sold me and my wife 2 Saabs, 2 Mercedes, and new Bug over the course of the last 7 years, I think I've spent a fair amount of money at his place :) ) had a new Mini a couple of months ago. Wow, what a car. He re-sold it for about $26k (only 8 mile on the odometer).

BTW Don, just got your e-mail. Many thanks.

Not a problem. I looked over one of the links and it was dead (the datsun 510 wheel page.. they fit as do the old nissan 240-260 Z wheels)
The hardtop link is really good. I bought a Parrish top for it 2 years ago and I love it. Plenty of head room and it makes the car a bit more pleasant when driving in the cold.

Nice B'
There was a green 78'MGB on the side of the road yesterday with the bonnet up. The guy had already called a tow truck and had his mechanic on the cell when I happened upon him in my 73" Series III with no top and doors removed. Told him I had an MGB in the stable. He let me touch his ride.
Fuses OK; ground from fuel pump -its connected to the same ground for the licence plate lights OK; banged on fuel pump (contacts) - no change; checked inertia fuel switch under steering column - not triggered BUT it had a bare wire hanging. Reconnected the wire, B started on the 2nd hit. Not the Lucas Ghost - just a crappy wiring job not having stuff properly zip tied from banging on the left knee. Got him running in 5 minutes and away before any sight of the tow truck!
Congrats on your MGB.
