I am currently lucking for a decent RRC in the 88-92 year range. I've looked at 4-5 of them sofar and it seems that they have all had a broken odometer right around 100K. Is this a normal problem for RRC's? If so, how expensive is it to get the odometer and speedo fixed? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

yup...fairly common. They don't like to make the 100K leap. Replacement speedo around $200-250 |

Yes - they do break but not so common that I'd accept it as fact..I'd be suspicious they "broke" it at 100K and then drove another 100K like that to help it maintain its value.. check service records for mileage/ dates to double check. |

Also note that the 88-89 operate their speedometers the old fashioned way. The 90 and up RRs use the road speed sensor(they are electronic) The only problem that I have had with my 92RR is that sometimes the speedometer gets stuck at 80mph. But I can fix it by just slapping the instrument binacle. Randall |

Thanks for the advice. I had run a carfax on all of them and on one it appeared that the odo had actually been rolled back twice. It was on an 88. On another one, the one I am actually going to buy, a bluish 89 the odo had broken at 45k and been replaced with a new one and that was actually documented in the records. I feel better knowing that I chose the one with the working odometer and speedometer instead of the one with the broken one thinking it would be an easy fix. |
