Anyone hear about this?.... http://www.crosslander4x4.com./

Sound like an interesting option for a trail vehicle. Anyone know more about this? Is there someone on here who's from Brasil that can maybe give us more information? Looks like there is a dealer in Scottsdale already. Anyone from there who knows of this dealer?

hmmm... just answered some of my own questions. What I've been able to dig up with my poor ability to read Portuguese is...

IFS and live rear axles. (locking rear diff?)
Drum brakes front and rear.
approach angle 50 degrees
departure angle 35 degrees
weight 1,480 kg

This is for the CL-330 not the 244 that we will see first here in the US market.

I own one and i want to sell it.
its a 1998 with 47,000 miles its gray and i hate to say it its better then my disco for off roading. I know all about this car and its not new to the states. this is the sceond time they have tryed to bring it to the US. The first time they tryed it was buy a company from Romania. The company is called ARO and its been around since 1976. i can go on and on about this Fine SUV. if anyone wants more info on this email me. There is just to much to type. ill try to get pics of everyone.

Is it good for driving around town and where can you buy them at. I like that they have diesels and the price is real good.

Well i got mine in 1998 and its a 4cyl gas. I got it at my port. Ita great for what ever you want to do. I still drive it off and on but i like to keep the miles down since i have one of a very few in the US. There is a farmer in Colo. that had 4 on his farm. Other then that I think we are the only 2 in the US that has this suv. He also got his at my port.

Looks like they're now setting up dealers and there is one dealer already in AZ. If they plan on selling 6000 in 2003 then I think we'll start seeing more of these.

There is a place in Texas that has about 1000 of them but they are all 1995's and they are not to be sold do to admitions. But i guess they found a loop hole to start shipping them into the US.

I have to sell it cause my mom and dad will not let me keep both. And the deal was if they co-signed for my car i had to sell the other one. I know it sounds stupid but 6 cars in one drive way is super hard to get around. Also when i said better i ment offroading not in all around better.

Travis, Sounds like the engine they're using now is different. And why would they let 1000 cars sit in Texas if they can't sell them? Wouldn't it be better to ship them somewhere they can be sold?

I have to say I'm very interested in this vehicle and the diesel engine sounds nice. I don't see it as a replacement for a Disco but as an alternative for a second vehicle. If it really is better than a Disco off road then I might get rid of my Disco but I have my reservations if it has IFS and drum brakes. I'm still waiting on more information on the vehicle.

Yea it is a great 2nd car. All the Suv's in Texas are made by a Romaina company called ARO. This is the same car as this Crosslander. ARO sold the plans to Crosslander. Its a long story and i could go on and on. if you want more info email me and we can chat over the phone.

There was a JohnDeer dealer in Connecticut that was going to sell the ARO about 14-15 years ago. I went and test drove one in 87(I think). It was white and had a ford arostar 4cyc and 5sp. I went back about 2 years later and they had a dark grey one with a v6/auto (ford also) It had chrome rims and trim and had ac. This one was inside so I couldn't test drive it. I have to look but I know I still have the info the dealer gave me about the truck. It has a lot of headroom because they use it for rallies so they wear helmets. Here is one in blue (hope this works) \clipart {aroblue.jpg} the grey one I saw was just like this one. It also had a brush bar and rubber floor mats.
