the beach ... lot's of swimming, boarding ... (water is still cold though, the older i get, the more of a pansy i've become, lol, tempted to wear a wet suit) there's been lot's o' dolphins swimming thru the breakers lately, but also a ton of 2 - 2 1/2 ft. squid (very icky, lol!) some old friends are also coming down and we're staying planted and grilling on the beach too.

yes, my disco needs work, no, it won't get done, lol.

have a great weekend, all!

Kim :)

Hopefully going to Uhwarrie on Sunday. Can't find many other people to go. I just came down with a bad cold so depending on how I feel tommorrow (workin' on a community project), I will then make the decision on whether I'm going.

Greg D., ya up for it? We've been having real good rain throughout the Peidmont Region so I'm sure all of the dust is settled at Uhwarrie (and then some). Any other Charlotte rovers want a little fun?

Taking the week off and going fishing in Canada. Leaving in about 6 or 7 hours.. No phone, no pager, no body to bug me, and plenty of beer.. Oh and maybe I'll catch some fish too. :)

I planned on doing a bunch of work to my Disco this weekend but I didn't get it back from the shop in time (after rolling it). They promise it will be ready for next weekend so here is my list of projects:

Install custom fabricated rear bumper
Install custom fabricated rock sliders
Install Safari Gard Front Bumper
Replace transfer case with one that has CDL
CDL Solenoid Kit
OME Steering Damper

Should be a busy install weekend. ALl the work is being done by my buddies shop 4x4 Labs (www.4x4labs.com). I'll be sure to take lots of pictures. Once the rear bumper and sliders are complete he does plan on selling them.

Let's see, what did I do this Labor Day weekend? I watched my Disco slowly fall apart. The CV was screwed, the roto is cracked, the front U-joints are chewed up, my steering is squeaking, my rear axle is on the verge of breaking, and to top it all off my rear view mirror fell off. But I do get to drive my brothers WRX, so it's all good. and I do get to see the fireworks tonight while my friends try to talk me out of ever driving a Rover again, they could try...oh yes...they can try.

In addition to installing Rovertym sliders on my '97 D1 this weekend, i completed wiring the 2 rear worklights on my rack so that they're controlled from the rear light switch above the volume controls to the left of the steering wheel.
There is now also a secondary on/off switch for the worklights inside the rear compartment. With the new power wire I ran from the battery, I can now add an auxillary power plug in the back. Not sure that I'll leave the cateye lights I have on the rack back .... might replace them with halogen "tractor" lights like two of the 3 worklights I put on the front of the rack. The 3rd (center) front worklight is a halogen "spot" with less diffusion than the "tractor" lights.
