The engine in my 1991 Classic sputters when I use the ac/fan/windows or the radio. When they are not in use the engine runs fine. I have had the vehicle for about one year and this is its first real problem. Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the cause? Solutions? CAneal |

Your alternator may be going bad. |

I thought it might be my alternator as well. Is there any way that I can test it to be sure? (novice here) Could it be something else? |

Gordo here. Try adding a new ground wire from the chassis to the engine (it grounds behind the ds valve cover on the engine block). Also run a ground from the chassis to the ground behind the battery on the fender wheel. This may fix it. Mine did that before, as well as other symptoms, and this helped tremendously. Although I still have a slight hesitation at times. Very well could be your alternator though. Good luck Gordo |

Thanks for the advice. It was my alternator. Replaced it last week with a 100 amp rebuilt. Runs just fine now. |
