I own a 1984 2 dr 5 speed rangie and i was wondering what the largest tyre i could fit on my truck without any suspension modifications. anyone have any suggestions on what tyres would best suit central north carolina terrain? thanks for any input. Patrick |

I also live in central NC, where red mud dominates the soil. If you don't want to live with mud terrain tires every day, then just get a good set of all-terrains. You can fit 225/75 tires without any worrys. On a stock suspension 245/75s will rub a little here and there, but no real problem. The larger diameter of the 245/75s will reduce the acceleration of the truck though. Randall |

Regarding tires, I'm really pleased with the Dunlop Radial Rover R/T's I put on my '85 RR. My first choice would have been BF Goodrich TracEdge tires. I have them on my Series III but BFG has since discontinued them. The R/T's and the TracEdge are great hybrids combining an inner A/T tread with an outer tread similar to a good M/T tire. Wear on the R/T's looks pretty good as well. |
