Check out some Rover action tonight at 8pm on TLC. I dunno about the east coast, but TLC is available even on basic cable plans.

And here's the link...

I know I saw Defenders in the preview. Not sure how much will be devoted to Rovers in particular.

Oh god have mercy, Java, you don't realize what you've done ... If Greg see's this ....

LOL, Since Greg's birthday (August) he's been having this itch ... He finally confessed it to me last weekend. After I got through laughing, and saw that he was serious, I got kind of scared. No way could we rationalize or pay for a Defender right now ... I don't know what he's thinking. I'm going to see if he's taken out some big life insurance policy on me or something ...

Going to try to talk him into a an old rangie (?) What do y'all think? - We have a friend that has an '85 classic (some special edition) that's in pretty good condition. I dunno, no way can I see paying 30-40K then doing mods on something with no warranty. A Defender? - You know, maybe he thinks I can't do manual trans ... LOL, he's wrong though, I can!

Kim :)
this is what I get for denting his car on Valentine's Day ....

Hey Kim,

If you do your homework, you can get a nice Defender for under 30K. This weekend at Pismo, there was a guy who had just bought a yellow D90, 53K miles, for $22K! Everyone told him what a deal he got, and the damn thing was cleeeeaaan, spotless.

IMHO, If you can do many of the inevitable repairs, an old Rangie would be fun to build up. However, if you're going to take it to the dealer for this repair and that noise, without warranty, you'll be regretful of the purchase.

FWIW...

I watched parts of the TLC program... it started off as a commercial for the Range Rover Series III. Damn, that's a nice truck, poetry in motion.

Kim,

if you are really serious about finding a D90. I definitely got a great deal on mine. It really just takes due diligence, more than any other vehicle. I recently bought a 97 d90, for a sum well under 30K.

Also, on D-90.com, someone just listed a 97 with 75K miles for 26K, fully loaded and ready for offroad... It's a nice rig.

BTW, it was rather funny to hear the PM for the new rangie talk about the technology...

I'm all for technology in everything, but not in an offroad rig. At least he was realistic in saying only 10% of owners take their rigs off the pavement...

Well, the D90 itch is there ... We'll have to see if it gets scratched. I'm still a little wary, (worried/nagging wife attitude here:)) I mean, the man barely has enough time to help me with the Disco, so he better be prepared time wise (and financially, LOL). Thanks for your input guys. It does shed a better light on the idea.

:)
