So, what I really want to know is this....how many gals will be there (besides me!)? Wives, girlfriends, fiances?

Reading posts about all the modifications being done in preparation, and all the beer and cigars being bought is making me wonder if I will be in a LARGE minority! :)

Maybe I should send my fiance in my truck and stay home....YEAH RIGHT!

rob you should take your RR. i have seen way too many bone stock RRC's walk up shit that have given locked trucks issues. (it ain't always the driver either) anyhow half the fun there is just camping, drinking, chillin' and BSing. not that bad a drive for you Burgh' folk.
and Eric......i know, you are right i really should not bust on Rob. but actually i think he is going to a Back Street Boys concert. i think he knows what i mean. haha. :)

That's ok GP. I don't know why I said that. The time that I met Rob he wanted to drug me and take my sliders and my rear bumper.. I don't even want to think about what else he may have wanted to do to me while I was out..

Really though Rob, you should go. You drove down here to run the dirt roads in GWNF at least these trails are better (I think).

Sus,

My wife, my brother-in-law's wife, and the wives of two of our buddies are going ... even a baby! (but they will be staying in a hotel).

I'll be there w/ my wife, son (3.5yrs) and daughter (2yrs).. so that's another 1.25 women to add. :)

One of my friend's is going and he said his wife and kids (3 daughters) might make an appearance.

shit man. if i can drive a '69 IIA with tons of slop in the steering box, very bad brakes and whatever else Evan did not tell me, you can drive your RR. i think he was actually trying to kill me and was faking the ankle injury!!! i drove it from the Harrisburg area, so Rob you can drive that RR down to MAR from the Burgh. just bring some duct tape and antifreeze and you will be golden.
as Ho says.......just do it.

Sus, my wife will be there. Plus, another couple is following us, so there's at least two more to add to your contingent! Look for us on top of the hill across from the vendors. That's where all of the DII folks are planning on camping (at least that's where I think we'll be camping).

Sus (Susannah)

Well GP took my thread to talk about 'capability!' ;)

Thanks for everyone's answers! Camille...I know you will be there-look forward to meeting you and the G!

Greg D-so DII people camp separately from DIs?! Is this a clique thing?! :)

I'm not sure if all the kids count....but I'll be the one doing all the Rover talkin! And hopefully the driving too!

Somebody search me out when I get there...so I know who all of you are!!

Paul D. Morgan (V22guy)

Well Greg, it depends who gets there first. It's all about taking the hill.

Greg Davis (Gregdavis)
Posted on Thursday, September 12, 2002 - 10:11 am:   Edit Post Delete Post Print Post

Well, we're heading out of Charlotte at 10 am, so that should put us there at aroung 3-3:30 Friday. We'll hook up then.

Sus, not a clique thing, just trying to put as many faces with the names as possible. Yours included!

Sus (Susannah)
Posted on Thursday, September 12, 2002 - 10:49 am:   Edit Post Delete Post Print Post

Definitely....that's one of the biggest attractions of MAR. Getting to know some REAL Rover people and not just cyber names! I was kidding about the cliques!

And if you have a chance Greg, I would really appreciate it if you could look at the panhard/steering rod problem I've got (from a previous post)!! I'm really hoping a simple adjustment will do the trick.

Another question for anyone who knows: If we don't arrive until late Friday or early Saturday, will we miss much? Ideally, it would be Friday around 7 or 8pm...but you never know.

I will be on the hill too. toward the end (like last year, the year before, and the year before that, you get the picture). I have the green British military tent behind the Freeloader (if some one drives it up for me) I will also have the BD U haul similar to the one I took to Uwharri. Other vehicles to include a white D2, a couple old series, maybe a 110, a Rangie or 2 and who knows what else. I will be there bright eyed Friday AM (since I am actually getting there Thursday afternoon)

Well, Paul and I have rolled our departure time back from Thursday night to sometime early Friday morning, so we should be there fairly early Friday morning.

On a separate note, if any other PA area people would like to follow down, let us know. I know a few people mentioned it but couldn't leave on Thursday, so not sure if this makes a difference for you.

Guess, I'm just going to camp where ever I can find a spot. Hopefully by some trees. Sounds like I better get there early if I want even a half way decent spot.

Eric - a few of us are getting there fairly early on Friday - noon-ish - will probably camp on the island if you want to join the fracas!

Ya, that sounds good.. I live in N.VA so it isn't that far of a drive for me. I'm not sure what time I'm getting there though. Guess it's all just a matter of what time I get up in the morning. :) Shooting for around noon or 1 ish on Friday.

Um, shooting to be at MAR by noon or 1 ish. Maybe earlier cause I'm really not sure how long it will take me to get there. I'll probably get up around 8 or 9.

Nice David!!

Gp-glad to hear it. I'm bringing my dog too...she's a girl.

Good to know I won't be completely outnumbered...not that being surrounded by a majority of men has ever bothered me! :) :)

Can't wait to meet everyone.

Thanks Kim, for all of your advice. I'm pretty tough...can 'rough' it with the best of them. I've done my share of camping and 'going' in the woods...though it's never easy for a woman. The best part is surprising people...I look pretty girly...could wear a formal gown and hiking boots if necessary!

Too bad you can't come across from So-Cal! :)
