Just wondering if anyone else is feeling the same way that I am. I put 265/75s on my Disco a few months ago. I had 225/75s and the new tires looked so much bigger. However, now I look at my truck and think to myself that the tires just look small. Like they need to be bigger. It's like I'm looking at a stock truck all over again thinking "Damn, I got to do some thing about those little ass tires I got." Anybody else feel that way?

I totally am felling that same way. I replaced my 225/75s too and got 255/85s on now. I am looking at them and they just get smaller everyday. Maybe its the narrow tread or how they are tucked into the fender that makes them look small? But they sure do wheel well! The breakover and axle clearance is way better.

I felt that way. The only way to get around it is to fit the biggest damn tires that you can fit under there while still being of sound mind.

34x10.50s did the trick for me.
I may go to 35x12.50s one day, but not anytime soon.

That is one way one to look at it Rob, doing phenominal things while looking stock.I like it. Maybe it is constantly having to trim the fenders to fit the tires that makes them look small!!

As my grandpa once told me, " never date a woman with big hands, makes your weiner look small! "

I know the feeling, this weekend when my truck was sitting next to Johns(of RTE) at the SAE, it looked puny with 3 inch left and 32s next to his 7 inch lift and 35x12.50s…needless to say I will be getting some 35 or 36's soon, and I am making my own spacers.

Eric, why do you think I bought the XL's? Those 285's started looking like, well, 265's!

So how much do you think it would cost to craft my disco body onto the Big Foot Monster truck.. :)

if you're just concerned about the "look", then carry a picture of a big-tired beast around...it's much cheaper in the long run

Na, Blue, there are a few rocks that I'd like to drive up that a 35 would help with. Guess, I could always just winch up every thing but, what's the fun in that?

LOL
so, you start off with some 28 inch michelins.
then go for some 31s... then 32s.. then 33s...
then 35s... which in time will start looking kinda small.. then 36s, and 38s, and 44s...

well, you get the idea.

I'm thinkin 38.5's should look just about right :)

Time to get to work now, if I can find the time.

Naw, anything larger than 36's are Jeeper meats.

That should get it started.

I always heard it wasn't the size that counted. Are you guys telling me that's not true after all? Damn, and I just put 265's on last week after people talked me out of 285's.

in my humblest of opinions, 265/75/16 is about as big as any "looks like stock" D1 should get. Once you get beyond that size, you're sliding down the "should make this thing a dedicated trail beast" slope...

245/75 has gotten me plenty of places I shouldn't have been, and I'm not left feeling size challenged.

but Eric, I know what you mean about those 35" rocks you pass on the trail...hehehehehe

dedicated trail beast? LOL
blue, that would suck even worse. you have a bad ass looking truck that gets it's ass kicked left and right by little jeeps. LOL

perhaps even more entertaining than "looks like stock" discos kick them little jeeps ass.

It's not the Size that Matters, it's what you can do with it....

Hi Guys,

As most worthwhile women would say,

"It aint the meat, it's the motion".

There was a great song by Maria Muldaur with that title.

Anyway,as most men approach early middle age, they develop another round of insecurity about their "equipment" (the first round was in adolescence). They begin to compare theirs with other men's and often walk away feeling smaller, along with a strong urge to make theirs bigger.

Unfortunately, this is a growing problem among men, and there are fewer who are fully self-assured about their equipment and fully confident about how to make the most of it.

Although most women could care less about the size of a man's rubber, men worry about this to the point where they suffer from "performance anxiety" and won't go out until they are truly big, and can stay that way. They spend thousands on rubber with big performance-enhancing lugs & ridges as well as tough sidewalls to prevent premature/unintended deflation. They spend even more on exotic high-volume pumps to ensure that their flaccid tires can return to full size and firmness very quickly.

These men can soon take heart that a solution is on the way that can help them without the need for oversize tire transplants, extensive vehicular surgery or overpriced pumps. Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. is teaming up with Pfizer to develop a new product called TIRAGRA (fenderafil tirflate) which promises to be a major breakthrough in achieving full performance.

Stay tuned.......

Yeah, my package is looking smaller by the day. I need something bigger than 32" and 50lbs :)

As Tom said, 'face it, they are small' . . And it will cost you a lot to go Big :(
