Just curious to know, from those of you who attended this year's event, how was it? Good, bad, better than last year, worst than last year etc? Anyone with pics to share?

Chris (who had to miss this year on the count of a 15lb, 5 month old addition to the family! ;-))

I thought it was great! The weather tried hard to make it rough by raining Friday afternoon, night and then again on Saturday late night. During the day Saturday the sun came out in spots and made for a very nice day on the trails. There seemed to be more trails than last year and fewer trucks due to the weather. I suppose some folks didn't like the idea of camping or camping in the rain so they stayed home. Who knows.

Anyway it was a great time and a very well run event.

Whew, for a minute there I thought your wife had a 15 lb baby(!), 'till I read the 5 month old part. Don't worry Chris, I didn't make it either. From what I've heard, though, it was wet-n-muddy and a good time overall. Maybe someone that was actually there will chime in.

I had a great time but the weather made camping a mess.

Greg,
15lbs would be SCARY!! All I can say is OUCH!! Glad to hear that I wasn't the "only one" in the Carolinas that didn't make it.;-) I'm working (ie. begging SWAMBO) hard to make it to the MAR this year. The disco hasn't stretched her legs ina while so........
I had to miss last year for a business trip. I look forward to putting some faces with some DWeb posts at the MAR this year.

Chris

Chris, where are you located? I'm in Charlotte. If you're nearby, perhaps we could caravan?

Too much rain, too little raffle winnings. Could have eaten about 6 more of the BBQ plates on Saturday. Great time otherwise.

Greg,
I'm actually in Greenville, SC. It's about an hour from my front door to Billy G Pkwy. A caravan sounds good to me, let's talk. Greg, we also have an informal group of local rover folks that get together several times a year for camping and trail runs on some semi-local trails (not Uwharrie). All good guys and enthusiasts. You're welcome to come along anytime. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
Cheers,
Chris

it was great...trails were good, good items in auction/raffle....rain at night sucked(resulting in a 3 foot diameter, 3 inch deep puddle in my tent:(....other that that i had a great time
And, unlike other events, the trails were not crowded at all...i was never in a group of more than 7 trucks, and most the time i was jsut with one other truck....

Jack, i think there were plenty of raffle winnings...i won plenty :)(notice how the three of us who kept winning were all together...that was weird)

Chris, I was wondering what you have been upto. Sorry you didn't get to make it. The weather wasn't that bad. It rained some on Friday, Saturday afternoon was good weather, and Sat. night saw some more rain.
Personally, I thought everything went well.
Scott and Chris did a fine job this year.
The trails, well, they were muddy. And there were several new trails that we didn't have last year, which made things even better. Due to the rain, even the trails last year were a different challenge. Also, the existing trails had changed some (naturally) over the past year which was good.
Overall, I thought the trails were great. I spent all day Saturday on Dirt Seller with only 2 other trucks in our small group. We road all over and had a blast. We had a great turnout, but with the new trail additions, you really didn't see more than about 7-10 trucks on any one trail. Actually, the only time you could grasp the number of people/trucks present was back at camp in the evenings.
Everyone I saw and talked with seemed to have a smile on their face and mud on their trucks.
Talk to you later,
Norman
Also, there will be videos available shortly, so even though you missed the event, you can check out who all was there and such.

Norman,
Yeah, I wasn't able to make it this year since Lisa and I have a new addition to the family. Sounds like it was a good time for those who got to go. See you at MAR (hopefully :-)) Talked with Chris Brown last night and he and Camille are bringing both Disco's. Should be a great time.
