you can keep all those subaru's I have seen soooooo many stupid problems in them? how about the fact that they burn right rear wheel bearings at a rate of 5 to 1 compared to the other corners? how about a car company that does not stock spark plug wires in the usa? you think the rovers have strange sounds...subaru's have cronic rod knock till they warm up. the wausau WI dealership had over 100 cars with severe rod knocks in cold conditions 2 winters ago when I talked to them...subaru says its a normal "characteristic" of a flat 4...yea right they are really expensive for the number of miles they go as well...they sure arent honda's |

they sure arent honda's Thank God!
That's why I got it, I hate Hondas and Toyotas... We've had several Subarus, and they just keep running and running. lol, I try to avoid dealers for parts anyway, so that, ie SOA, bothers me not. -L |

since I make many northward ski trips all winter long and have a cabin in the north woods of wisconsin I need 4 wheel drive...so I have had a number of sub's as well . and they do have there good points. but they are just not the quality car they used to be. the 2.5 motor has a scarry high failure rate. and you really are paying for alot of plastic these days...kinda like GM was for awhile...we need a new car model...lets hang some plastic and fancy rims on it and be done. |

The 2.5 when they tried the DOHC sucked... they reverted to a SOHC, and the reliability has skyrocketed.... the little 1.8 and 2.0 were fine as a DOHC, but the 2.2/2.5 just didn't handle it well.... Gotta say, the highway commute is a lot more fun now.....

it looks like the boys were up late again with cases of beer, the hot glue gun, an old el Camino, and several cases of American cheese. |

didn't VW make a bus p/u with a side loading tailgate? i am pretty sure they did and that was pretty sweet. and i still think that thing could beat my truck off the line. |

I believe the new Subaru was designed by the same guys that designed pretty much the whole Pontiac fleet! |

Any of you driven a WRX lately? I had the opportunity to do a little "rally" practice with a friend's stock WRX wagon in rural Mendocino county. Very Impressive! There is a local twisty mountain dirt road that normally takes me over 25 minutes to make it to Laytonville, 9 miles away. Driving like "a responsible parent" I was able to do it in 14 minutes in the WRX, much of it looking down the road out of the side window in wonderfully-balanced power-on 4wheel drifts from turn to turn. The car was amazingly agile and forgiving. You can even "flick" it on pavement. It felt more agile than any Audi Quattro I ever drove, and if I could afford it, I would definately buy one for my daily driver. As for VW rabbit pickups, They definately look better than the Subaru Baja. I still have my 82 pickup (gathering moss right now) with full GTI treatment, Including engine & interior + Billsteins, swaybars & Rally suspension. It was a blast driving through the "truck trails" of Upper Michigan (including the "Press On Regardless" Rally), but it can't come close to the WRX. You can keep the Baja, looks like a BRAT in prep school attire. |

I have driven the WRX and I agree. Great car. There is a lot to be said for all wheel drive. That is probably the reason I like my Freelander so much. I miss my Disco but since I drive so much the Freelander is much better on pavement. I have a connection that is getting me a supercharger like the one in the Callaway Freelander. I should have it next week. It would be neat to have a rally ready Land Rover. |
