Unlike past generations, people today have no understanding of how to behave at formal events, or when the flag is being paraded. This used to be taught in schools, and since a great many parents and grandparents in this country served in wartime, it was taught at home. Today things are far different.

We no longer have thousands of funerals to bury our honored dead and thus the general populus is oblivious to the respect that should be shown these men and women in uniform. I was unfortunate enough to lose one of my best friends last month in a C130 plane crash in Costa Rica. A true hero if I ever met one. Perhaps if more people had a harrowing experience such as that, they might show due respect.

That is so typical Dee...

Do you remember the when the Marine Color Guard at the Atlanta World Series brought out the Canadian Flag upside down? Not a good scene. We were using their Hangar to store our airplanes and needless to say, heads where rolling afterwards.

that's a sad, sad photo.

Perrone, sorry to hear about your loss, but don't go lumping us all in with the disrespectful ("people today have no understanding...")

I don't lump anyone. People know which category they fall into. I was introduced to this stuff very early. My dad was a WWII draftee.

Always being the skeptic, I would like to see the bigger picture or know more information.

Those slackers on their ass could have been instructed to remain seated so the Vets behind could see . . they could be journalists . . . or--as the caption implies--they could be tree hugging, peace loving hippies that don't know the meaning of sacrifice.

Moe,

My thoughts exactly, at least the first part of what you say. Pretty tight shot with no explanation, save the inset "caption", which tells you nothing factual.

Karen, tree-hugging, peace-loving military dependent who knows all about sacrifice. AND bullshit on the internet.

Yeah Dee,

I have to hold back my anger when I see some homo sitting on his/her ass when the US flag is being paraded by a US military Honor Guard. I have respect of anyone who has served this country, no matter what branch they served under. I was proud to be flying all over the Mid East in support of Desert Shield / Storm 10 years ago. I am sure all of these so called tree hugging Americans couldn't give a shit less for our sacrifices while they were filling up there gas guzzling SUV's.

For those of you who do not support the military or Republicans; you can blow me.

Paul, Semper Fi

Respect for our Country need to be more than waving a flag. I’ve gained a new respect for New Yorkers since 9/11 there the real thing and still going at it 24 X 7 X 365. Its funny how Congress was all around holding hands and singing after 9/11 pledging to avenge this reign of terror then when the source is delivered to them with a Big Red Bow its politics as usual oh its election time I don’t want to vote for a war, I may not get re-elected by the A-D-D Lemmings in my district.. Hell Florida still can’t figure out how to vote

So it cracks me up with all this Jock Sniffing Flag waving shit. Think about this what sacrifice are you willing to make to support our freedoms and way of life? And how many will ante up when personal sacrifices are needed? I can go on but you and I were both around in the 70s

paul. is this a plee for me to give you a little lovin' at MAR. although i am not affiliated with any 'group' of politicians (i vote across the board) you are forcing me to act against my natural born homosapian way. you realize that you are siding with about every woman on the WPGA. short hair and all!!! but heh.....that's cool. just don't expect me to take care of your needs for you. you can cruise over to Victorias Secret this weekend and play with the panties if that is what you need. pink ones. i think you know what i mean.

and yes were were out with the kids in the back watching 8mm movies/shows of the little rascels, underdog and daniel boone!!! i mean does it get any better than that. oh yeah.....drinking Straub beer too.
