Hopefully going camping sometime in October, and would like to find some new camping spots. We'd like to go somewhere in the North Eastern part of PA, maybe somewhere in Wyoming State Forrest, or Worlds End State Forrest. Any ideas???

Thnaks for the info guys. That Pine Creek place looks great. We'll probably hit that if we don't take our dog. We usually take her, and there are not that many placed in PA that allow pets. They are expanding that this year and next. We might hit Promised Land, they have some nice camping spots right on the lake. My main problem with PA's camping, is that your have to camp in the camp grounds. I like it better when you can hike/wheel to a nice spot. We found some great spots in the GWNF a few months back.

Anyone ever been to Promised Land state park???

Zak ,
Try Promised Land State Park , lower lake area has showers . Hickory Run state park offers some nice hiking . If you travel a bit futher east try the Watergate area on the Jersy side of the Delaware River Recreation Area (National Park).I've camped at Worlds end and Rickets Glenn also quite nice. There's one just outside of Jim Thorpe if your inclined to visit the Asa Packer home . Check out the site Rob recomended above.

Zak,

If you venture to the Jersey side, check into Whortington State Forest. They have campsites right on the Delaware River Banks. Plenty of hiking trails, although I wasn't there long enough to find the trails where you could drive your Disco.

I second the reccomendations for Ricketts Glen and Hickory Run and the Delaware Water Gap. I've camped in all three, All have great hiking trails, and the Water Gap has the Appalachian Trail for added interest.

Zak,

I have camped at Jim Thorpe three times and enjoyed the area very much. There are plenty of activities in the area to include: White Water Rafting, cycling, hiking, and shopping for the Mrs. A beer distributor is conviently located at the bottom of the hill and a place to buy split fire wood is a 1/4 mile away from the campground. There are showers and bathrooms located a short walk from the individual sites. The Jim Thorpe campground has a loop that borders a small creek and you can camp right next to it. I highly recommend that area.

Paul
