I'm w/ Keystone Insurance (through AAA). If you're an AAA member for a certain # of years, you can get insurance through them.

USAA myself. Best rates I found for the Disco and the Freelander. The MG has the collectors rate and for what I paid 1 month for at State Farm is what I pay for 1 year now.

Progressive, I am retired military but USAA only accepted officers when I was in. When I worked for Progressive I winced whenever someone with USAA called in for a quote, only beat their rates 1 time.

Electric Insurance is quoting us ( for our 97 & 99 Discoverys) half of what we are currently paying State Farm for the same coverage.
I contacted SF and asked them why that was. They said they would send me info and/or work with me...but its been 2 weeks and no info/contact... Looks like they can't or won't compete/negotiate.

Ahh but Ho I was getting a P3 processer up and running last night and I needed a break. I'll give you a call on Monday and let you know what I found out.

State Farm.

Thing is, it's who my family has been with, the same rep, since before I was born.... no one can touch his rates whenever I've shopped around. (Speaking of companies that I'd use.. some might beat it, but I wouldn't trust them)

If I walked into any other branch, though, I wouldn't expect it to be the same low rate....

FWIW...

Let's talk numbers:
State Farms wants $658 (every 6 months) to insure a '97 Discovery and a '99 Discovery.
Electric Insurance has quoted the same for 12 months with the same coverage.
Can anyone give me a good reason to not "trust" Electric Insurance.... bad experience, troubles filing. I need a reason to pay double to SF... we've been with them for decades.

By the way, we have been accident free, no tickets, and are getting all the SF discounts for safe driver, long term customer, etc. and its still twice the price.

Why?

You could ask them if they cover roll overs or accidents while you are off roading. Some insurance companies won't cover that. Like if you slide down a muddy hill and side swipe a tree causing some good sized dents. They may tell you that they don't cover that. I have heard that some insurance companies have some fine print that they don't always tell people till it's too late.

I have Allstate and they covered me completely (except my $500 deductible) when I rolled my brand new Disco off-road. Total damage was $22K. Allstate didn't blink an eye and had a check cut within 3 days.
