I have always admired the Rovers, and I have finally found one. I'm looking at a 96 Disco SE7 with 59,000 miles. It is black with tan gut, 5 speed, 7 pass, and in great condition. I'm wondering if there is anything I should be watching out for mechanically. It will be my daily driver as well as my partner off the beaten path. I will be using it for camping, towing, wheeling, skiing, family carrying, and much more. My main concern is if it will be a reliable vehicle for me. If there is any advice you can lend it would be much appreciated. Also, if you think I'm crazy, let me know that too. Thanks, hopefully we'll see you on the trails sometime soon!

sounds like a nice truck

if you are used to working on your own truck then you will be happy as hell

if you dont do your own work or arent going too then you be pretty unhappy .

these things will go ferever and are really well built trucks but you need to keep covering your bases. If you decide to ignore it they can be expensive to catch back up on in a shop.

enjoy the truck

or send it my way I'm looking for a 5speed

I have a 96 SE7 with 61xxx. We have owned it since new. Past two years I have wheeled it pretty hard and managed to drive it to school everday as well, prior to that it was just driven hard on the streets everyday. The only major problem was a blown intake manifold gasket in the middle of Kansas on Thanksgiving day. Managed to nurse it to LR Denver East and after laying down an absurd amount of money, we were up in the mountains for a late, yet beautiful Thanksgiving. Other than that we have had no major problems, given I do a lot of my own preventative maintence. I do agree with muskyman, you will be much better off if you do enjoy tinkering on it yourself, however... there are a lot of happy people that drive them and don't. The other thing you might check is having the owner get the 60K tune up done. It is the biggest and most expensive. Might work that into the price if not. Hope that helps, just my thoughts.

By the way, I have an auto and if you wanna swap transmissions, let me know!
