Basically using my Disco to tow with until mid-late summer, then it will undergo some serious changes as my fiance's trail rig.

one thing I'm interested in is finding a TDI that came with the make truck. Where TDI's ever imported to the US? In any of the LRs? Any does anybody know a link that would help me in comparing the 4.0 specs with the TD specs?

Heaps of them here in Australia, A bloke I know imports wrecks from Japan and sells them as parts. Maybe you could get a Jap import and do a conversion. Murray buys them for stuff all and they are low mileage, he had v8 98 D1 the other day with with 30 k KM on it. The tdi 5 speeds go ok because you can rev them before you let the clutch out and get nearly on boost, auto are slow down low. You can tweak the pump and tune the turbo lag out a bit if you want.

All the TDI's you want here in the Emirates. I can throw sand in any direction and it lands on a TDI something or another. Discos, 90s, 110s, but I don't recall any Rangies.

I think I'm a bit closer, if you feel like importing yourself a TDI.
People import cars from Miami all the time down here in Panama, shouldn't be much different. Not sure what the US tax is though.

yup, I mean if you feel like picking up a stock 300 Tdi Disco you can get 'em down here, heck I got 2.. one for my father, one for myself. '95 & '97 respectively. But if an engine swap is easier and less expensive for ya, go with ECR.

Powerstroke 2.8 is great food for thought & discussion. Seems like a very cool but pricey power setup.
