Well for those of you following my vibe saga, the hoseclamps did not really fix the problem, neither did a new rear shaft. I have had a Freelander for the past week as my dealer has graciously tried to figure it out....again. New shafts have been fitted along with tires, parking brake cover, couplings, etc. The problem was discovered this afternoon....the t-case. Something is vibrating from within. Even though I am 10k out of warranty they are going to try and get it covered for me. I am curious, how much am I looking at here if they can't? Thanks
Matt

I bought the "improved" LT230 version from Land Rover for $3300.
Yes, I was ripped off!
Get a refurbished one for about $1800

Well LR Knoxville officially arranged for me to get a new t-case for nothing. I guess this more than makes up for the hose clamps.

Sounds to me like LR Knoxville screwed up your t-case to begin with.

Steve,
Do the t-cases you are selling have the CDL knob? If so I would be interested.

I'm curious to know how LR Knoxville determined that your vibration is comming from your transfer case. I'm even more curious to know a t-case can cause a vibration. Worn brearing maybe? A chunk of metal fly off a gear?

Erik, they had a machine that had sensors they could put on various parts of the car (axles, tcase, etc) and then could listen for something putting off the harmonics of the vibe. It was like an electronic stethoscope. Interesting looking contraption. I had noticed at the end of the summer when I was towing my boat to a storage facility how the truck was rocking back and forth when I would put on the gas and let off.......it had never done this before.....probably related.

Interesting. Well, I hope the t-case swap fixes your problem. Good luck!

Matt,

Let us know if that fixed the vibration. I'm going through the same thing - after replacing everything, it looks like the t-case is the problem, notably the front output shaft. I've got a used one due in this week. Once I get it replaced I'll have my answer, but if it doesn't fix the vibration, I don't know what else to put the blame on.........
