If I put stock D-90 springs on my stock D-1....

1. Will they fit?

2. If they fit, will they give me any suspension lift? Even 1"?

Just an idea...

I'm assuming that you're talking about stock springs. I don't know what the stock D-90 spring rates are but I would think that they would be lighter and smaller than the disco springs. So I would have to say that you would be lowering your disco.

Have D-90 springs on my RRC - they were part of the HD RoversNorth coil spring conversion kit. Yes they will fit your Disco. All of the springs are interchangeable between the different models except some rear springs for the 110 or 130 (can't remember). The front and rear will fit either way, although the front springs have different heights and are handed. See http://members.shaw.ca/jbarge/springinfo.html.

I talked to a guy I saw in a parking lot once that looked like he had about a 1-2 inch lift on his disco. He told me that all he did was replace his old springs with some from a defender. I don't know...that's what he said.

I don't know the particulars, but aren't the disco and D90 built on the same frame, axles, etc.

Steve is right, 90 is way lighter than the Disco, so if stock springs, they are probably rated for a lighter load hence lowering your Disco.

D90 springs are heavier than DI, especially the front springs.

~1in of lift

Wow, what a mix of responses. I'm thinking it might be worth a try...the D90 springs only have about 30K on them, where my stock D1 have 85K!

If we do it, I'll let you guys know.
Thanks!

Take b/f and after pics if you do, since I've got a set of D90 springs laying around ...

Why not just get some OME's where you know what the rates are and what kind of lift you will get? I hate doing things twice.

Steve,
I wasn't really looking for the lift yet, but was talking with my friend who just recently lifted his 90...he posed the question. It seemed to be an interesting idea and I wondered if it would work.

I'm in the process of buying new tires and can't really afford to do an OME lift as well.

... "since I've got a set of D90 springs laying around" ... that's why not, the springs I've got are free; and if someone's going to do before and after measurements, then that's more info for the collective. Maybe it'll be no lift, or too little, or maybe it'll become the new CB lift. I'd love to be able to afford a nice new lift, but if it turns out the springs I've got sitting around are worth something after all, I might as well see what I can do with 'em, right?

That's what I was thinking too Alan! My friend said he would give me the springs and help us install them....so why not?! :-)
