A garage a few hours from my home is selling a used (original Land Rover) Adventure Roof Rack that I am interested in purchasing. However, they do not know whether it came off of a Discovery I or II. Does anyone know the dimensions for the Discovery I vs. II Adventure rack so that I can assist them in determining whether or not it will fit my Discovery II (before driving a few hours to see if it fits)? Thanks! Matt

I just went out and measured my D1 Adventure rack, and it is about 84" long from end to end, counting the part above the windshield that arcs out. So I would say that the D2 rack is closer to 90" inches or something. |

Matt, if it doesn't fit your truck, do you mind sharing the information for discoweb D1 readers? |

Matt, it will fit your truck, but it will be shorter. If it's a good price and you can live with it being slightly short, it'll work. |

The garage got back to me and gave me the dimensions of 87" in length and 59" from bracket to bracket. That's a little longer than Adam's 84" D1 rack but not much. From gutter to gutter across the top my DII is about 59" and about 91" along the sides. Any other thoughts? |

Yea I'm guessing that that is a DII rack. I just bought an adventure rack on ebay and the guy said that it can fit a DI, but the dimensions are 87' by 59. Not sure if it will fit, but i think he is wrong. Anyways I got it cheap so if you would like to make an offer or anybody. Don't worry I would send the donation to disco. |

Thom, DI racks on DII's is OK. DII racks on DI's? I don't know about that. They are way too big for the roof. |

no mines a D1 rack...but the D2 rack covers the roof on a D1 real nice and looks to offer better protection then the D1 rack. I would have a tried to get a D2 rack for a long time ,then settled for a D1 rack. with all the hanging branches and tree lined trails in the midwest I thought tree sliders would be a good way to go with a tall skinny truck |

i've seen a dII rack on a D1. Ther's a huge overhang at the back. It's way too big for the D1 roof. Cheers Jack |
