I'm just about ready to put my new engine on the road. I use to use shell synth. in all my cars, but have lately been getting good deals on Red Line after getting a job at a new shop. I have reservations about using really good oil to break in my new 4.0, so just wanted to check. Should I just use the regular type to allow the break in process to happen correctly and then switc to red line after a few changes? Thanks, Ry |

Do not use redline to break in your engine. Redline specifically states not to use their oil to break in an engine. Personally I use dino oil for the first two oil changes (1500 and ~3000) and then switch to synthetic. Redline is good stuff. Enjoy your new engine! -justin |

Cheapo oil for 500 miles, then again for another 1000, and then start using Mobil 1. Pointless to waste good oil on such a short period. |
