Got the new RTE Slimline bumper (full brush guard) bolted up last night. Was getting pretty tired, and probably did not give it a fair look, but it seems as though the grill would have to be cut to mount any winch. I just have a tiny M8000, and did not think this would be necessary. I will give it another glance today, and probably just trim the grill, but thought I would check to see if this is standard procedure. Thanks, Clif |

I had to trim also for my 9.5ti, and some of you guys might have already tried this or something similar, but I finished the edges where I cut the plastic with the plastic channel strips that you put on the edges of car doors to prevent scratches/dings. Gives it a bit more of a factory finish.

Also, you can sub mount your control box it's pretty easy and looks good I think. I put mine where in front of the jack by the air box. I think there is a write up in the tech section too. Plus with the RTE slimine you hardly see the winch, but you have easy access to the spool. |

I have that same winch in my RTE Clif. I may have some pics I can post if you like. I'll try and find them. Matt |

Michael, I got the trim at Pep Boys, I think, but it's nothing special. I think I've seen it at any of the auto parts stores and Walmart type places. It's just the black plastic channel that goes on the edges of the doors. It typically comes with an adhesive, too that keeps it in place. Devin

Cliff, Can you or someone else with the RTE Slimline and brush guard post some photos or a link to photos of this mod? I am interested in doing something like this but I wanted to see some photos. Are you able to mount your winch straight to the Slimline or do you have to use a bracket? Did you have to install any lift? About how much does this kind of thing run a person? What other options are there for a Slimline besides this one? I intend to get a winch for it though. Thanks for filling me in on all this! -Vaden |

www.rovertym.com "Rovertym Engineering" = "RTE" I'll try and get you some pics as fast as I can Clif. Highschool baseball keeps me extremely busy. Matt |

Vaden, I'll try to get some pics posted of my RTE soon. As for pricing, go to www.rovertym.com for more information. Steve at RTE also builds custom bumpers, so if you need something different, he can fabricate it. The winch is bolted directly onto the bumper using four bolts. As for the lift, most people with winch bumpers and winches tend to have them. A solid winch bumper weighs around 125 lbs. A winch, depending on the rating, runs from 85-125 lbs. Without a lift, you would be darned low up-front. Before my RTE Slimline and winch combination, I had an ARB on my D2. I lost about an inch from stock height on the front. -Eugene |

Exploring another option, Rover Solutions has a winch bumper. Is it possible to get something like this still? Do you have to cut into the grille with the RS bumper? Id rather not cut the grille if all possible. This is the link I found the RS on: http://www.roversolutions.com/home.htm Does anyone know the price of one of these? Would Steve at RTE be able to make one of these for me? It will be a year or so until I do something like this because I am going with a rack right now unless I have enough money left to play with. Thanks for answering all my questions - The photos Ive seen look awesome - All of you have cool rigs! Thanks! -vaden |

Not to draw this thread away from Vaden's RTE edition of the RS bumper...but... What has been the ideal cutting utensil for the grill? Thanks again |

Band Saw is best after tracing. Or you can dremel it. |

Here is a front end shot of the Pig. If you look carefully, you can see how much of my grill actually remains after trimming for a Warn 12K.

Here's a really bad pic of mine Clif. I don't have a digital camera, so this is the best, recent bumper pic I have.
Sorry..., it's a polaroid Matt |
