I have a 1994 Disco that is running really rough until it gets up to temp. I am in chicago and the outside temp has warmed in the last two days and that is when the trouble started. Once at temp it runs as well as it ever has albiet not that well even then.
Any ideas would be great I was thinking coolent temp sensor.

Could be Bad O2 sensors, Stepper Motor sticking, Coolent Temp like you are thinking.

Just my thoughts.

Hope it helps

O2 sensors were replaced two years ago. Wouldn't the stepper motor still cause problems once the vehicle was warmed up?

You may be right about the Stepper. Your O2 sensors are they 2,3, or 4 wire? Not sure on the OBDI Disco's. But if 3 or 4 wire, then they have a built in heater that may have gone bad which would give you the issue that you are having.

Check your code reader and see if any codes are tripped. How many miles on the truck. Sounds like stepper motor or throttle position sensor. Also did you mess with your base idle? Does it feel like the vehicle is underpowered at first until it warms? Is there any sounds emitted from under the hood?

Two wire O2 sensors, No codes, 125k, have not touched base idle for over a year, no sounds under the hood, The truck runs fine once it is up to operating temp.

The vehicle wont use O2 sensor data until it is warmed up and in closed loop. There was a post about idle oscilation until warm that was diagnosed as a bad fuel temperature sensor. My Disco has the idle oscilation problem, but haven't gotten around to changing the sensor to see if it fixes it.
