My CD changer hasn't worked for sometime. It has power, but when I press "Band", it goes from FM1-FM11, AM. It doesn't say "CD" like I've been told it should. I want to remove the radio, and see if the changer is hooked up. Would I be able to make a simple tool myself, or do I have to pay lots of $$$ to buy one from the dealer? Should I even bother removing the radio?

A small allen wrench should do the job. Just unscrew the bolts through the two small holes on each end of the radio. I don't think the bolts come out all the way.

You'll need a flathead screwdrive to yank the unit out of the dash, if you intend on doing so.

My '97 uses a #2 Torx. Hard to find them that small. If it's been abused in the past with something besides a Torx, an Allen wrench may work.

yeah, the last guy to remove the radio (maybe when the changer was installed?) stripped the right bolt. Now I don't know what to do...

try a bigger size torx or allen bit. You may be able to drive it in and sort of "make" it fit. Not a lot bigger, just enough to have some interference fit.
