As per most mechanics fuel injected vehicles should change the fuel filter every 10k.

At 3$ each (German Made - when purchasing 12 or more) here in the Middle East, I change mine at every oil change. The fuel here is REALLY bad (ironic, huh?), so I'd like to save my injectors with some preventive maintenance.

At $3 each I would every oil change too. I do mine every year usually in the spring. It's cheap insurnace not to get stranded. And what this I hear about bad fuel in the Middle East.

Cheers, Andy

I just replaced my RRC this last weekend. Not sure how long it had been on (at least, the 40K kms since I bought it), but it made a world of difference in how the truck runs. I've never had a fuel filter make so much difference so I was a bit surprised all the way around. Replacing every 15K kms or so probably makes a lot of sense.

Nadim, saw your profile photo and I have to say you look like you know how to wheel. Is there a lot of good spots to go in the Middle East? just curious.

Cheers Andy

Andy,
Thanks...The whole region is GREAT, and I only wish that the military/political issues are solved so that we can wheel freely at will.
Dubai/Saudi are known for their great sands, and we're planning a trip to the "Empty Quarters" (sounds and IS scary), Jordan is out of this world, a true work of art with desert and very mild temepratures in the right season. Syria is HUGE but not too safe, with massive mountains, and Lebanon is tiny, with mine-strewn fields, but the topography is just out of this world.
Being a csout for the past 18 years has helped me appreciate these lands, and I now know how beautiful things are. You WILL encounter high-speed sections, rocks, snow, mud, gravel, AND have clearance issues ALL in the SAME day. truely amazing...that is why I keep modifying my truck for "everything".
Some updated pics (sorry for the thread hi-jack):

Wow. Impressive. How much to ship my disco over there and see some great trails? I can say we have good trails here in Oregon but don't have to worry to much about mine fields or military action. Seems like there is always something in the way of a good time. To bad it's life threatening sometimes. Got some questions about your bull bar , but I'll e-mail them to you so I don't tie up this thread anymore.

Cheers Andy and stay safe

Hey guys, long time listener, first time caller. I haven't replaced my fuel filter in about 60k kms, and it looks like an easy job. Does anyone have the Ryco, Repco or otherwise filter number for a 1992 D1 V8 petrol fuel filter ? thanks.

We replaced the filter on the RRC yesterday as part of mini tune up and bought one for my Disco as well. Pretty simple job and I'm thinking they were both long overdue. Some people say anywhere from 10-50K on those things....I think it depends on what type of fuel you use/get and the age of the truck.

Nadim -- so, is that offer open to anyone? I just might have to make a trip and pick up your bumper myself :-)
